Job Description

Light & Dark Acupuncture & Apothecary is hiring a Full-time Acupuncturist and Herbalist Employee/Pediatric Acupuncturist in Training

This is an excellent opportunity for those acupuncturists and herbalists who are passionate about treating children. Through a combination of in-depth TCM pediatric theory, hands-on clinical experience, reflection and mentorship, you will gain the expertise needed to effectively treat children of all ages. This combination of practice while learning, and reflection with mentorship will strengthen your confidence as a pediatric provider.

As part of our commitment to your professional development, we offer an Educational Assistance Program (EAP) that covers expenses for a year-long TCM Pediatrics Certification continuing education course (see details below the job description).

Light & Dark Acupuncture & Apothecary is located in Aurora, Colorado and is dedicated to treating one client at a time in a single treatment room. We are committed to fostering deep connections that enrich both the client's and the clinician's experience rather than focusing on a high client volume. Those looking for this kind of clinical experience will be a good fit in our clinic.

In this position, you will:

  1. Treat a high case load of children of all ages, while also gaining experience in treating adults.

  2. Learn how to provide comprehensive support to parents by offering Eastern medicine lifestyle recommendations.

  3. Gain proficiency in accurate TCM diagnosis, point combinations, and herbal formulas for effective pediatric treatments.

  4. Receive guidance and practice around needle technique for children and pediatric non-needle techniques.

  5. Learn about pediatric conditions such as common pediatric digestive disorders, respiratory disorders, sleep disturbances and emotional disorders.

  6. Deepen your understanding of the developmental stages and milestones of children according to TCM pediatric theory, enabling you to tailor acupuncture treatments to support their overall health and well-being at different ages.

  7. Learn to adapt your treatment approach and/or treatment plan based on the age, temperament, and individual needs of each child. This may involve learning and/or using skills outside of the TCM realm in treatment, such as play therapy, storytelling, or other child-friendly activities.

  8. Learn how to manage the flow of a treatment for children of different age groups, i.e. infants, toddlers, school aged children, pre-teens, teenagers and young adults

  9. Gain great clinical experience by working in a busy family clinic environment, where you'll have the opportunity to treat a wide range of pediatric cases under the supervision of experienced practitioners.

  10. Receive mentorship and guidance on working effectively with kids and families.

  11. Enhance both your skills and confidence as a pediatric acupuncturist leading to a lifelong career in helping children.
