Summary

The Truck Driver contributes to meeting Langham Trucking goals of exceptional customer service, quality, process improvement, and profitability by ensuring that the designated shipments are picked up and delivered shipped according to client specifications, eliminating errors and claims.

The Truck Driver drivers perform a variety of duties, load and unload freight in a productive, safe and claims-free manner between our customers and/or our dock. Hook/unhook trailers to/from a tractor and/or trailer. Perform freight handling using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including but not limited to: forklift, pallet jack and hand truck. Drivers may be required to perform job duties of a pickup and delivery driver or a dock employee where operationally necessary.

All Truck Drivers are expected to operate according to all safety and security guidelines. Any Driver who operates any of our forklift equipment must be certified by Langham.

Job Duties

All drivers, regardless of assigned area or duties, are expected to:

• Operate all equipment, machinery, forklifts, etc., in an efficient, safe, and productive manner; • Perform pre and post trip inspections on tractor/trailer; • Meet established quality and productivity metrics; • Maintain cleanliness of company vehicles; • Maintain accurate daily logs; • Lift, carry and position freight for maximum use of trailer space; • Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures; • Work as part of a team, assist others when needed.•Ensure shipments are transported in a safe manner between major cities for on time pick up and deliveries. • Follow dispatch instructions and communicate with dispatch as required, including but not limited to delays, arrivals and equipment problems. • Communicate with customer to determine pick-up or delivery needs and solicit additional business. • Demonstrate internal and external customer service. • Ask for additional business from customers, and provide leads to sales for potential new opportunities. • Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies, including but not limited to; pallets, straps and rope. • Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary. • Verify and complete required documentation and reports.Represent Langham Trucking: • Provide courteous, professional service to both internal and external customers. • Present a positive image of Langham Trucking.

Qualifications:

• Class A CDL with two years' experience of local pick up & delivery in the Indianapolis area in the past 3 years. • High school diploma or GED required. • Able to read, interpret, and use forms and other visual instructions in order to perform required work. • Ability to read and understand maps, road signs and shipping papers. • Demonstrates ability to verbally and/or visually communicate with others. • Proactive in anticipating and alerting others to problems with projects or processes. • High detail orientation and accuracy. • Takes initiative and needs little supervision. • Performs responsibilities efficiently and timely. • Can adjust to changing workloads and hours. • Works well in a team environment and as part of a team. • Demonstrates proficiency in basic mathematics.
