POSITION SUMMARY:

The Inventory and Receiving Clerk will work under the direct supervision of the Inventory and Receiving Supervisor, and his/her responsibilities will include receive shipments, verify contents, and maintain records. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The person filling this position will have a familiarity with working in a production environment and will be required to follow detailed instructions.


SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

Receives direct supervision from Inventory and Receiving Supervisor; may assist other departmental employees in the performance of the job functions. Does not exercise supervision over any other position.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Examine shipment content and compare with records such as invoices or orders to verify accuracy.
  • Log amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
  • Remove strapping and wrapping and dispose safely in designated containers or areas.
  • Read shipping order or requisition to determine items to be distributed.
  • Update the product inventory as products are received and added to our inventory.
  • Open bales, crates, and other containers.
  • Handle and pile drums or other supplies being delivered to the port or other departments.
  • Enter purchase orders in the system to generate a dock receipt or shipping slip.
  • Review all shipments for any damages and/or spoiled cargo.
  • Handle return shipments.
  • Package products for return to vendors and prepare RMA paperwork.
  • Assemble wooden or cardboard containers.
  • Prepare parcels for mailing.
  • Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
  • Stamp, stencil, or glue identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
  • Insert items into containers.
  • Arrange stock in specified sequence for future necessity of items.
  • Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Compile bill of ladings and/or dock receipts from packages received for proper distribution.
  • Operate forklift to move cargo from warehouse staging area as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 2-3 years stockroom and/or inventory receiving experience
  • ERP experience or SAP Business One a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft office products
  • Barcode experience
  • Cycle counting experience
  • Ability to operate a Forklift
  • Must be able to handle various issues simultaneously and prioritize
  • Inventory control knowledge
  • Must be fluent in English & Spanish
  • The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Strong organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Report safety hazards.

  • Wear appropriate PPE as instructed by immediate supervisor.
  • Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and rules.
  • Refuse any unsafe task or operation.
  • Participate in safety meetings and training.
  • Be constantly aware of their personal safety and that of their coworkers.


CONDITIONS:

  • Indoor office, controlled temperature environment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate due to telephones and employees that approach the department.

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM must be willing and able to work some Saturdays or stay beyond scheduled shift if needed to meet business demands.
