Equipment Operator

We are seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to become a part of our team! You will operate a truck or tractor to transport materials.

OPERATES:***MINI EXCAVATORS AND SKID STEERS***

KNOWS HOW TO GRADE LAND

Responsibilities:

• Operates, maneuvers, navigates, or drives vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as mini excavators, backhoes, skidsteers, or passenger vehicles
• Uses either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes
• Inspects equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects
• Conducts post-job quality checks
• Cleans, checks fluid levels and conducts a visual inspection of equipment to assure your equipment is performing at optimum safety and the required paperwork
• Communicates with supervisor daily to turn in required paperwork
• Cleans, checks fluid levels and conducts a visual inspection of vehicle/equipment to assure vehicle/equipment is performing at optimum safety, performs the required pre-trip, post trip inspections and the required paperwork, perform needed maintenance including winterizing equipment
• Utilizes defensive driving practices
• Operates truck in a manner that ensures compliance with all applicable company, state and federal safety regulations
• Follows required company and DOT reporting procedures

*****SHOULD BE ABLE TO TRANSPORT EQUIPMENT WITH 18 FOOT TRAILER (TRAILER AND TRUCK PROVIDED BY COMPANY)

Qualifications:

• One (1+) plus years of experience in backhoe/mini excavator operation is required
• One (1+) plus years of experience digging and working around underground utilities is required
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year to year basis
• Strong work ethic
• Ability to handle physical workload
• Can commute to Bedford, NY temporarily and eventually the Wappingers Falls area
