Responsible for leading and managing the Education Team and ensuring that the diverse educational needs of the organization are met in a way that promotes knowledge and expertise of key subject matter, advancing professional development and ultimately supporting the agency’s mission by enhancing the quality of care to those we serve.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Responsible for the development and oversight of Hospice of the Western Reserve’s education strategy and roadmap in alignment with current and future needs of the agency
  • Creates and maintains an education team structure that aligns with the developed education strategy
  • Maintains working knowledge of hospice clinical care practices, procedures and policies, and ensures all educational content is compliant and current
  • Conducts regular needs assessments and consistently measures the success of educational programs to ensure program goals are met
  • Develops strong relationships and partnerships with quality & compliance, clinical leadership, field staff and inpatient unit staff spending time in the field and at bedside as needed
  • Oversees all educational programs and content including clinical educational programs, professional development programs, nursing residency program, e-learning and more
  • Develops and implements training and support programs and materials.
  • Directs staff responsible for Hospice-U module creation and daily activity to include reporting for compliance.
  • Audits and maintains oversight of the completion rates and scores for various educational programs and reports findings to necessary teams
  • May serve as liaison to other agencies and committees as assigned.
  • Supports creation of corrective education plans as needed.
  • Collaboration with Marketing and Communications Team on related issues and announcements.
  • Maintains agency standards for customer service.
  • Monitors the continuous compliance with Medicare, JCAHO and other licensure regulations.
  • Manages allocation of resources within the allotted budget.

SUCCESS CAPABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated leadership and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in interpreting and applying agency policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Six (6) years of management and supervision required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in clinical education
  • Hospice or home care experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in professional educational program planning, development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in health care or education. Clinical license required, license in nursing or social work preferred.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in nursing
  • Preferred: Clinical experience in hospice or home and facility-based patient care settings.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Compliance to Annual Flu Shot Policy or ability to provide exemption documentation
  • Provide an active auto insurance policy as a licensed driver in the State of Ohio with the proper level of coverage as directed
  • Provide an active driver’s license
  • Ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High level of integrity, ethics and professionalism.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

This position requires the duties be completed in both office-type settings and patient care settings. May include making visits to a variety of home environments with prolonged telephone or computer use at times. Could require the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally; work requires sitting, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, standing, fingering, grasping and repetitive motions; vocal communication; hearing, and visual acuity. This position has the potential to be exposed to environmental elements, internal and external, such as infectious disease, bloodborne pathogens, and chemicals and/or chemical fumes, (pet dander and/or exposure to allergens) and adverse effects of inclement weather that may occur as well as potentially difficult patient and family situations.
