Job Description
Specific Job Functions:
- Act as a consultant for key departments and provide guidance, recommendations, and overall support regarding employee and labor relations matters.
- Partner with key business stakeholders to ensure proper implementation of the company’s best practices and procedures.
- Participate in and lead projects that strives for continuous improvement for the department and property.
- Coordinate meetings with management and employees when a problem occurs to effectively resolve disputes which may arise from interpretations or actions involving Human Resources, company policy or contractual language.
- Process suspension pending investigation cases, including scheduling, documenting due process meetings, conducting interviews, collecting evidence, and providing recommendations.
- Conduct investigations and provide resolution on critical employee relations issues in a timely and effective manner.
- Responsible for the daily administration of union contracts while maintaining consistency and accuracy.
- Provide information to support grievances, and prepare for board of adjustments and arbitrations.
- Assists with the execution of board of adjustments and arbitrations.
- Develop and write policies and procedures and provide guidance to management on the interpretation of policies as well as local, state, and federal laws.
- Ensure the company is in compliance with union contracts, local, state, and federal laws.
- Functional knowledge of Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Americans with Disability Act (ADA), Workers’ Compensation and general leave information.
- Provide property trainings on employee relations and labor management.
- Promote direct communication and a positive rapport amongst employees and managers.
- Contact managers, review relevant policies and objectively document facts and opinions relevant to all cases.
- Provide leadership to the department in the absence of the Director of Employee Relations.
- Perform all duties as deemed necessary for the success of the department.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 4 years experience in the Employee and Labor Relations field is required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred.
- Excellent ability to present written information in a professional and accurate manner.
- Ability to communicate, read, and translate in Spanish preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook necessary.
- Organizational skills to function effectively with attention to detail while meeting established deadlines a must.
- Solid presentation skills.
- Strong problem-solving and influencing skills.
- Ability to enforce the organization’s policies, practices, and procedures.
- Must possess excellent conflict resolution skills.
- Professional appearance and demeanor are a must.
