Pine Gate Renewables is experiencing significant growth and our field and commissioning team is looking to hire a Commissioning/Construction Manager. The field and commissioning team is essential to Pine Gate as the team partners with our EPC and engages midway through construction to build processes and improve quality. The Commissioning/Construction Manager serves as the principal point of contact for suppliers, the general contractor, and subcontractor representatives at the project site. What You'll Do

  • Oversee commissioning and construction contractors as the Owner's representative and have primary oversight of all construction activities, including the construction of roads, structural and mechanical components, low and high-voltage electrical works, substations, and solar installation at the project site.
  • Work with project development, finance and project management teams regarding subcontracts, scheduling, change orders and controlling cost of project within the approved budget.
  • Communicate effectively and responsibly with customers, general contractor(s) and subcontractors in the field.
  • Responsible for reviewing specifications and drawings, reviewing site QA/QC activities, and communicating any issues and discrepancies to the appropriate party.
  • Prioritize work to meet project goals including deadlines, cost targets, and project schedules.
  • Responsible for ensuring contractors are implementing and maintaining safety programs at the jobsite and adhering to Site Specific Safety Plan.
  • Represent the organization professionally with suppliers, general contractors, subcontractors, landowners, vendors, utilities, local officials, and other project stakeholders.
  • Oversee and coordinate commissioning activities and ensure contractor is maintaining compliance with the engineers' and manufacturers' recommendations.
  • Lead and coordinate the project punch list to include mechanical, electrical and commission deficiencies with the appropriate stakeholders.
  • May provide periodic emergency support to Asset Management and O&M team.
  • Provide O&M support between projects.
  • Be willing to travel frequently and/or relocate to jobsites in multiple states.
  • Additional assistance with punch list closure and post-Substantial Completion reviews.
  • Manage site visits for Independent Engineers and other third parties, including photo documentation and additional review of contractor checklists and commissioning documentation.

Must-Haves

  • 3+ years of work experience in solar power construction required.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee site construction.
  • Project experience must include commissioning or electrical projects, preferably multi-disciplined/complex renewable energy projects.
  • Strong understanding of plans and specifications for commissioning and electrical work.
  • Strong communication, detailed reporting of observation-based summaries.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and problem-solving techniques.

Technical:

  • Knowledge of Solar power plant construction and operations.
  • Working knowledge of solar site troubleshooting, knowledge of transformer testing and experience with commissioning activities preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Procore, Box, Microsoft suite of products to include Teams, Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Education and Certifications

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED, Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Apprenticeship preferred, Journeyman Electricians or equivalent preferred.
  • OSHA 30 Certification preferred.

Working Environment and Physical Demand

  • Requires up to 80% travel.
  • Project assignments would be predominantly in the Southeast: GA, NC, and SC.
