JOB TITLE: Human Resources Manager- Food Manufacturing Facility

Summary: The Human Resources Manager is a key position at our Sterling, VA manufacturing facility and is responsible for maintaining the day-to-day HR operations at the plant. This position serves as a business partner to our Sterling Plant management team to ensure our operations are running efficiently and on time. This position manages, directs and coordinates the Human Resource policies and programs covering the following areas: employee relations, recruitment, development and retention of employees. This position also manages the Sanitation Department for office operations.

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • 5 years of progressive experience in human resources
  • Bi-lingual language skills a plus
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple high priorities with a large volume of employees
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment
  • Knowledge of general human resources practices and employment laws including, but not limited to, OSHA and EEO regulations.
  • Prior experience with workers' compensation claims and investigations
  • Ability to create, read and interpret document such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Prior experience with ADP Workforce Now preferred

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Lead plant level HR activity with particular attention to integration, talent management, retention, recruitment and employee relations
  • Implement and manage on-going policies, programs and procedures to foster understanding of and improvement of management, supervisory and employee relations
  • Be an active member of the Plant Leadership team to ensure all HR topics and initiatives are discussed and represented
  • Lead site related talent acquisition, onboarding, development, promotion and departure processes consistent with existing practices and tools
  • Lead change management as it pertains to Human Resources
  • Manage situations involving policy interpretation
  • Lead and mentor others to ensure consistent application of all rules and policies
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues
  • Conducts effective, thorough, and objective workplace investigations and recommend resolution
  • Apply progressive discipline and coaching support to plant leadership and employees
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
  • Conducts regular meetings with respective management team to stay abreast of the facility needs and challenges.
  • Coordinate transportation for plant workers to ensure staff can arrive to and from work and monitor weekly transportation reports
  • Identifies training needs for plant positions and ensures bi-monthly training is completed as needed for fire drills, safety and GMP
  • Plans and conducts new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward Company goals
  • Supports benefits administration for plant employees to include enrollment in benefits, troubleshooting coverage issues and administering leave of absences
  • Investigates injuries and maintains OSHA compliance and daily injury reports
  • Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs
  • Facilitate administration of bonus payments, promotions, rate changes and step increases
  • Provide to employees support for payroll issues
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Monitor office sanitation team for scheduling and vacancies
  • Coordinate plant employee events and celebrations
