SUMMARY

The Webb Schools, a boarding/day high school of 400 students located in Claremont, CA seeks an innovative and creative Assistant Director of Admission to join the Admission Office. The Assistant Director of Admission will play a significant role in the recruitment, evaluation, selection, and enrollment of mission-appropriate students. The Assistant Director of Admission reports to the Senior Associate Director of Admission and will work as part of a supportive and dynamic admission team, to facilitate a culture of collaboration, creativity, professionalism, and data-driven decision making.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Assistant Director of Admission will assist in developing and implementing administrative systems which includes application processing and workflow, CRM support through Slate, events, recruitment, and outreach coordination, and/or other areas based on interests and strengths of the successful candidate. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Represent the school compellingly to prospective students and families.
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with school placement directors, counselors, consultants, and community-based organizations.
  • Develop a travel plan in an assigned recruitment territory to include school visits, school recruitment fairs, interviews, meetings, and other related recruitment activities. Provide an accurate record of travel and admission-related expenses.
  • Work in a team-based approach with Admission staff to develop recruitment strategies for specific constituencies and/or regions. This may include analyzing data, researching trends, and learning about best practices from other institutions.
  • Review applications for admission and make recommendations for admission. Participate in the selection process as a member of the Admission Committee.
  • Conduct admission interviews for prospective students and families.
  • Participate in and assist with Admission recruitment events.
  • Counsel prospective students and families through the application process and facilitate questions related to Webb’s admission and financial aid process and distinctions of the Webb experience.
  • As a member of the Admission Committee, review and evaluate applications for admission and provide recommendations.
  • As a member of the Admission Committee, review and evaluate applications for admission during the selection cycle, analyze academic performance data, provide recommendations, and participate in full committee conversations.
  • Generate reports and analyze data to support the decision-making process for the Admission Office.
  • Coordinate admission application processing, data collection, and CRM support through Slate.
  • Develop and implement workflows, forms, and communication plans.
  • Continually seek new opportunities to improve upon existing admission and financial aid practices.
  • Attend conferences for professional development and in support of the mission of The Webb Schools, as necessary.
  • The institutional character of the boarding school environment may require job responsibilities to be completed in the evenings and on the weekends.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred) from an accredited college or university is required. A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in admission, recruitment, CRM systems, sales/marketing, and/or other related fields is required. Experience in an educational setting, particularly with independent school admissions, community outreach, or educational administration, is preferred. Excellent project management skills and direct experience in a forward-facing role (such as leading/directing tours, interviews, events, and presentations) are preferred. The ability to multitask, maintain flexibility, and take initiative in an energetic office environment are essential to success in this position. In addition, exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills are required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

A valid California Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record is required. A criminal background check must be completed before employment can begin.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are a necessity.
  • Self-starter, ability to work independently and make sound decisions with flexibility/adaptability and a calm demeanor.
  • Experienced in working with diverse constituencies.
  • Highly organized, accurate, and detailed oriented.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, be responsive to deadlines, work well in a team environment, and manage projects simultaneously.
  • Professional experience and strong knowledge of CRM systems, people management, analytics, and modeling.
  • Experience with Slate database preferred.

REQUIREMENTS

A current California driver's license with a satisfactory motor vehicle record. A criminal background check must be successfully completed before employment can begin.

COMPENSATION PHILOSOPHY

Anticipated salary range: $62,000 - $70,000
