Salary:

Knickerbocker Group is seeking a Human Resources (HR) Generalist to join our growing team.  With 125 employees (& counting) and 3 regional locations (Boothbay, Portland, and soon-to-be Brunswick), we are looking for the right person to assist with recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new employees; benefit administration, education, and enrollment; developing, implementing, and educating our employees on company policies and practices, and more.  This position could be based out of any of our three locations.

 

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Performs routine tasks required to assist in the administrative management of HR tasks including but not limited to recruitment and retention, compensation and benefits, safety and compliance, company culture, performance management and professional development.
  • Provides administrative support to the human resource function as needed, including record-keeping, file maintenance, and data entry.
  • Assists in job description development, placing job postings, managing applicant flow, candidate screening, interviews, and may assist in the facilitation of hiring qualified job applicants for open positions.  Collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with training and continuing education, including but not limited to safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensures, and certifications.
  • Prepares, reviews and updates new employee files and prepares onboarding packets.
  • Partners with HR Management to continuously improve programs and processes to support the growth and needs of the company, assisting with special projects as needed.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants & employees at all levels, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to HR Management.
  • Assists with the preparation of 90-day, 6-month, and annual review processes.
  • Researches and maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

The ideal candidate should:

  • Have a working understanding of human resource principles, practices, and procedures, including an understanding of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Be able to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality at all times.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills with a high level of customer service - to share information effectively, while paying careful attention to feedback and questions from employees and job applicants.
  • Have excellent interpersonal, analytical, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Have excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Have excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines with the appropriate sense of urgency and prioritization.

 

Required education, experience, and technical knowledge:

  • Associate degree in Human Resource Management, Business Management, or equivalent (or an appropriate combination of education and work experience).
  • Minimum of one (1) year related HR experience preferred.
  • HR certification a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially with Excel and spreadsheet management.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s human resource information system.
