Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated High School Literacy Specialist to join our educational team. The primary responsibility of this role is to support and enhance literacy instruction for high school students, ensuring that they develop strong reading, writing, and critical thinking skills. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of literacy development, instructional strategies, and student assessment techniques.
Responsibilities:
Literacy Program Development and Implementation:
- Design, implement, and evaluate literacy programs tailored to high school students' needs
- Develop engaging curriculum and materials to improve reading comprehension, writing skills and vocabulary.
Individualized Student Support:
- Conduct literacy assessments to identify individual student needs and areas fcr improvement.
- Provide personalized literacy intervention and support to students who require additional assistance.
Collaboration and Professional Development:
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and educational specialists to integrate literacy strategies across various subjects.
Data Analysis and Progress Monitoring:
- Utilize assessment data to monitor student progress, adapt instructional approaches, and set achievable literacy goals.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate progress to relevant stakeholders.
Parent and Community Engagement:
- Foster a strong partnership with parents, keeping them informed of their child's literacy progress and providing resources for continued support at home.
- Engage with the community to promote literacy initiatives and advocate for the importance of literacy in education.
Technology Integration:
- Integrate educational technologies and digital tools to enhance literacy instruction and engagement.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and their applications in literacy education.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Literacy, English, or a related field.
- NYS Literacy Certification and relevant endorsements in literacy or reading instruction.
- Demonstrated experience in literacy instruction at the high school level.
- Strong knowledge of literacy assessment tools and strategies.

- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
