Job Description
We are seeking a talented Senior Buyer to support a dynamic Purchasing Department at a leading company in Northern New Jersey.
Summary of responsibilities:
- Develops and implements purchasing strategies to optimize procurement processes.
- Reviews and processes purchase orders in accordance with company policies.
- Manages and leads the purchasing team.
- Maintains detailed records of ordered/received goods, including delivery and inventory tracking.
- Negotiates prices and contracts with vendors to achieve cost savings and favorable terms.
- Builds and sustains strong relationships with vendors and suppliers. Selects vendors through research and negotiation to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness.
- Evaluates vendors based on criteria like quality, timeliness, and reliability.
- Coordinates with managers to monitor inventory and determine supply needs.
- Ensures timely delivery of goods/services by scheduling and overseeing fulfillment.
- Researches and evaluates vendors to secure competitive pricing and offerings.
- Addresses issues with procured items and vendors, focusing on quality and resolution.
- Stays informed of industry purchasing trends and best practices.
- Travels to vendor sites as needed to maintain relationships and conduct negotiations.
- Oversees adoption of new purchasing technologies as required.
Qualifications:
- Highly organized with excellent time management skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proven track record of successful vendor negotiations.
- Proficient research and data analysis capabilities.
- Adept at building and maintaining vendor relationships.
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
- Fluency in Spanish is preferred, but not mandatory.
- Minimum 7-10 years of purchasing experience in food, beverage, or CPG industries.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, or business administration.
- 7-10 years of progressive experience as a purchasing manager or similar role.
- Expertise utilizing procurement software and enterprise systems.
- Supervisory experience is preferred, though no direct reports.
- Ability to provide leadership when director/manager is unavailable.
