Application Development Intern

ESP Associates, Inc. is requesting applications for an Applications Development Intern, to join our Raleigh, NC office. As an intern in the Web Applications Department, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects/tasks with team members from various backgrounds (Engineering and GIS), contribute new ideas and improve processes.

The Applications Development Intern will have the opportunity to:

• Gain experience with contributing to the architecture, design, and development of various high-profile web projects utilizing C#/.NET, React, Python, the ESRI GIS software stack, and SQL Server.
• Support maintenance/feature development on older .NET Framework/Angular JS/JQuery applications.
• In addition to writing code, the ideal candidate should enjoy interacting with team members, participating in project requirements gathering, developing and presenting technical approaches, creating wireframes/mockups, and prototype demonstrations.

Qualifications:

• Enrollment in an undergraduate Computer Science or related program.
• Proficiency in basic Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel.
• Positive attitude and eagerness to learn is essential.
• Candidate must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policy.

Preferred:

• Familiarity with software development practices including requirements gathering, application design, coding, and debugging/troubleshooting.
• Experience with HTML5 and CSS3
• Experience with frontend development including both vanilla JS/JQuery and modern frontend frameworks (React preferred)
• Experience with backend development in any language (C# and/or Python preferred)
• Experience with relational (SQL) databases and database design.
