Job Description

Responsibilities of Entry-Level Financial Assistant :
Administrative cost analysis and audit support
  • Performs detailed analysis of administrative costs allocated to the benefit programs including trending, evaluating allowability, and maximizing reimbursement.
  • Develops and maintains rules and reports within the cost allocation system to make reporting adjustments for internal and external reporting.
  • Supports multiple annual audits of the external auditors and Sales.
Monthly close
  • Provides guidance to team members and reviews monthly close journal entries and reconciliations to ensure monthly activity is accurately recorded to the general ledger within internal deadlines.
  • Reviews the monthly results for gain/loss results and actual vs budget administrative cost results for presentation to Leadership.
External reporting and audited financial statements
  • Leads process for coordinating the timely and accurate preparation, review and submission of the financials, which include health benefits and administrative costs charged for reimbursement.
  • Reviews reconciliations between the cost allocation system and cost submissions.
  • Assists with preparation of executive summaries and representation letters presented to Carrier and Broker partners.
Budget and forecasts
  • Leads process to timely develop annual administrative cost budget for department.
  • Coordinates with business areas throughout to identify and quantify factors impacting the budget.
  • Prepares budget materials to be presented to Leadership.
  • Coordinates timely quarterly cost submissions including projections for the contract year.
Process improvements and compliance
  • Challenge existing processes to identify and implement process improvements to improve efficiency and accuracy while maintaining a quality control environment and compliance regulations.
  • Maximize utility of resources to improve workflow including benefit financial reporting.
  • Implement new regulations and interpret existing regulations as they apply to specific business transactions.
Qualifications for Entry-Level Financial Assistant:
  • Completed Bachelor’s degree
  • 1+ years of demonstrated experience
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Strong PC and financial systems skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member, and ability to train team members.
  • Must be able to effectively work in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing priorities, deadlines, and workloads that can be variable for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from internal and external customers, within set expectations for service excellence.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate and provide positive customer service to every internal and external customer, including customers who may be demanding or otherwise challenging.
