Job Title: Senior Manager of Fleet

Reports to: Chief of People and Operations

Employment Status: Full Time, Exempt



POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Manager of Fleet is responsible for overseeing and, at times, will perform maintenance on Jaunt vehicles and facility. This includes: the day-to-day management of the vehicle maintenance shop, maintenance of the entire Jaunt fleet, facilities, equipment and components; managing and supervising the work of the maintenance staff and contractors; maintaining detailed service schedules and records; negotiating contracts for outside repairs; purchasing and controlling inventory; managing the company's vehicle and facility maintenance plans; ensuring the shop area is maintained and work is performed in compliance with OSHA requirements and general safety guidelines; working with various staff to communicate related policies and practices; and other such similar work required to ensure that vehicles and facilities are maintained in optimum and safe operating condition. The nature of this position and staff size requires that the Senior Manager of Fleet responds to road calls, either personally or by delegating.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Establish, implement, and sustain a maintenance program in accordance with regulatory requirements, OSHA and FTA standards.
  • Establish and maintain parts and inventory program that meets the needs of the business.
  • Ensure that proper inventory levels are maintained to facilitate appropriate maintenance.
  • Maintain vehicles in a safe, clean, and reliable manner to fulfill service obligations and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Establish a Quality Assurance Program in accordance with the Maintenance Program
  • Establish a Maintenance Self-Audit Program in accordance with the Maintenance Program
  • Remain technically competent on current equipment, as well as industry trends, methods, and technologies. Attend internal and external seminars and workshops as appropriate.
  • Monitor productivity, fleet reliability and performance, vehicle cleanliness, and all aspects of safety.
  • Establish preventive maintenance schedules and ensure 100% compliance.
  • Analyze road call and defect reports for timely response. Track failure trends and repeat problem vehicles.
  • Review reports daily to ensure timely and proper handling of vehicle defects, parts orders, work orders and PMI forms.
  • Manage the input and quality of data entry into the Fleetio software program ensure proper tracking and reporting of information.
  • Ensure optimum staffing levels. Interview and hire technicians in accordance with established company policy.
  • Monitor technicians' work performance and productivity to determine training requirements.
  • Conduct periodic employee meetings to ensure timely distribution of information, discuss areas of concern and employee issues.
  • Prepare all necessary maintenance reports, correspondence, and documents required, regulatory agencies, and/or FTA.
  • Keep maintenance areas safe, clean, and organized, and ensure use of appropriate safety/personal protection equipment.
  • Conduct performance appraisals of direct report personnel including Maintenance Technicians and Custodian. Conduct appraisals of Technicians and Service Workers when necessary.
  • Manage warranty program by tracking claims, invoicing warranty work, and maintaining warranty work records.
  • Other duties as assigned.



This position is designated as "Mission Essential", which requires that employees report to their job site during emergency situations, such as snow, inclement weather, or other emergency situations.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

A High School Diploma or equivalent degree is required with a trade school or college degree preferred. Reading and writing appropriately is required as is the use of computers with MS Word and Excel. This requires considerable education and experience in automotive mechanics and maintenance management software as well as knowledge of all safety related standards. Supervisory experience is required. The successful candidate would have thorough knowledge of the operating principles of gasoline engines and motorized equipment and of the mechanical repair of vans and similar equipment; A minimum of 5 years of experience with 1-2 years of supervisory/management experience. Experience with heavy duty diesel and alternative fueled vehicle maintenance a plus. ASE certification(s) required along with State inspection license, and valid CDL. Transit experience preferred.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Employment is contingent upon successfully completing and passing a pre-employment drug screen. Employment is contingent on a clean driving record that allows employees to be covered by Jaunt's insurance. Continued employment is contingent upon adherence to Jaunt's Substance Abuse Policy, including being subject to drug and alcohol screening, as well as on maintaining a clean driving record.
