About New Commonwealth Fund:

The New Commonwealth Racial Equity and Social Justice Fund (NCF) is a coalition of Black and Brown executives in Massachusetts who have come together to leverage our individual and collective power to work with community organizations and coalitions to address and eliminate systemic racism and racial inequity in our Commonwealth. The initial focus of the New Commonwealth Racial Equity and Social Justice Fund (NCF) is to provide resources to initiatives and nonprofit organizations effectively supporting Black and Brown communities in the following areas: (1) Policing & Criminal Justice Reform; (2) Economic Empowerment; (3) Health Care Equity; and (4) Youth Education, Empowerment & Civic Engagement; (5) Identity and Culture Narrative.

Individuals who join NCF will be part of a collaborative team and should be prepared and able to adapt as we continue to build our strategy and infrastructure.

We are looking for a Manager of Investor Engagement that brings a desire to help build and grow a comprehensive engagement strategy for partnering with investors and the passion to communicate the impact of NCF’s work. The Manager will hold a strong understanding for the importance of consistent and thoughtful relationship building in creating a donor base at the individual, corporate, and institutional levels while also understanding the importance of tracking and documenting those relationships over time. They are organized, solutions-oriented, self-directed, flexible and demonstrate leadership and initiative, while also being a committed and contributing team player. At their core, this individual supports NCF’s belief that there is a way for everyone to play a role in ending systemic racism with financial contributions at every level of giving.

Position Summary:

The Manager of Investor Engagement, reporting to the Chief of Fund Development, will be an important member of the NCF team. Their experience and skills in the critical administrative functions of development will help build and steward a pipeline of potential investors and partners to ensure we raise $7M annually.

Essential Functions:
  • Deepen Investor Pipeline and Partner Relations:
    • Prospecting and research for funders that might support NCF financially.
    • Prepare profiles on relevant investors/partners for NCF leadership in advance of all scheduled meetings.
    • Prepare relevant impact and financial reports to funders.
    • Contribute content and assist with compiling NCF’s annual impact report.
    • Manage all grant submissions, individual donor solicitations, and other relevant fundraising efforts; document all activity in Salesforce.

  • Impact and Assessment:
    • Serve as the liaison to any institutional research and evaluation partners.

  • Communication and Connector:
    • Relevant report writing for key investors and partners.
    • Create and manage content related to potential or new partners.
    • Draft and send gift acknowledgement letters to funders, track in Salesforce.
    • Manage social media content and cadence in alignment with communication strategy.
    • Foster a collaborative relationship with potential partners.

  • Support the Chief of Fund Development and the President & CEO in key projects including but not limited to:
    • Investor event logistics.
    • Participate in various external, internal meetings, and learning opportunities.
    • Perform other duties as assigned related to NCF’s mission or to support partners, funders, or other stakeholders.

Qualifications

Preparation, Knowledge, Previous Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; and
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant full-time work experience, preferably in an investor relations/development associate function

Skills, Abilities, Competencies:

  • Strong research, writing, proofreading and basic editing skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Customer-service orientation and problem-solving attitude, along with strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
  • Skilled problem-solver and self-starter.
  • Proficient computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office products including Access, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel, as well as Internet research.
  • Proficient in CRM system management (Salesforce) and familiarity with Candid/Guidestar;
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks, organize and manage projects with multiple components, and implement complex activities.
  • Comfortable working with a diverse group of individuals to meet project objectives within established timelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively move from strategy to details in a seamless way;
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced and evolving environment; and
  • Good sense of humor and willingness to be flexible

Working Conditions & Physical Demands:
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to use a computer monitor and keyboard for long periods of time.
  • Ability to travel across the state to meet with key partners.

Compensation: Salary range $65,000-$85,000 commensurate with experience; benefits include health care, retirement, generous vacation leave, sick leave, and holiday schedules.
