Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

As the Foster Care Services Lead Clinician, you will be responsible for supporting and ensuring the comprehensive service delivery of clinical services in a foster care program. The Lead Clinician will offer consultation and trauma-informed expertise to program staff and stakeholders to promote stable foster placements and provide clinical feedback. Additionally, the Lead Clinician will conduct trainings during the onboarding process for new staff and continually, as needed. This role includes direct supervision of clinicians.

This position is expected to function effectively with minimal supervision while following the guidelines given on procedures, along with agency, state, and federal regulatory requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Support and supervise clinicians with service delivery, documentation and client related issues;
  • Provide direct therapeutic services to clients and community as needed including group work and family therapy;
  • Facilitate comprehensive clinical related training to new program staff and interns;
  • Ensure ORR and the program’s internal documentation practices and reporting requirements are met in following with contract and licensing standards;
  • Participate in staff meetings with stakeholders and offer clinical feedback regarding client treatment needs;
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with funding sources, licensing sources, families and collaterals;
  • Attend, facilitate, and assist with providing on-going education and support services to foster parents;
  • Participate in data collection and review to evaluate individual and program success – set goals for improvement based on overall strategies and objectives;
  • Provide crisis intervention and guidance to staff regarding clinical components of crisis intervention and long-term treatment strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work and 2 years of postgraduate direct service delivery experience OR; Master’s degree or Ph.D. in psychology, sociology, or other relevant behavioral science in whichclinical experience is a program requirement, and 2 years of postgraduate direct service delivery experience
  • Licensure to provide clinical services or eligible to obtain professional licensure or registration, if applicable
  • Supervisory experience in direct service delivery with the ability to effectively delegate tasks and responsibilities
  • Prior experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations, preferred
  • Bi-lingual English and Spanish, preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including interpersonal communication, group leadership skills, public speaking and clinical and persuasive writing skills
  • Ability to work under stress or in a fast-paced environment, including crisis situations
  • Strong organizational skills with knowledge of financial, human resource and marketing requirements

Other Requirements:

  • Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Pass a drug screening
  • Clean driving record
  • A personal vehicle or access to a vehicle is a plus; valid vehicle insurance

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Knowledge of the United States Resettlement and Unaccompanied Children’s Program, and Virginia foster care laws and processes
  • Ability to supervise a diverse staff and to operate and manage a culturally diverse workplace
  • Excellent oral, written and inter-personal communication skills; strong public speaking/presentation skills
  • Proficient in MS Office suite, Windows 7
  • Attention to detail and accuracy; strong organizational skills
  • Ability to promote professional growth for program staff
  • Knowledge of community resources and services systems
