CNC Field Service Technician
Job Location:
Seeking a dedicated individual residing in the Mid Michigan/Grand Rapids/Howell area to serve the West and Mid Michigan regions.
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced CNC Service Technician to manage installations, preventative maintenance, and corrective repairs for our customers across the Southeastern Michigan and Northern Ohio areas. This role involves significant travel, including potential overnight stays, to ensure optimal service delivery and customer satisfaction in the field.
Experience/Skill Set:
Candidates should have a robust background in servicing various machinery, not limited to CNC-specific equipment. Requirements include a valid license, reliable vehicle, and own tools. Compensation for tool breakage and specialty tools will be provided.
Travel Requirements: This position does not require regular attendance at the office and entails up to 95% local travel, with reimbursement for mileage and accommodation expenses covered (including a $65 meal per diem). Candidates should be prepared for up to 50% overnight travel, which may fluctuate depending on business needs.
Core Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostic and repair services directly at customer locations.
- Conduct CNC control repair, both electronic and mechanical, including systems such as automatic tool changers and pallet systems.
- Execute critical mechanical tasks like ballscrew and axis support bearing replacement, spindle repairs, and turret alignment.
Electrical Qualifications:
- Strong background in electrical and electronic troubleshooting.
- Proficient in using technical tools like digital multimeters, ohmmeters, and phase checkers.
- Skilled in reading and interpreting ladder and wiring diagrams.
General Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in CNC field service, with knowledge of Fanuc controls preferred.
- CNC programming skills are advantageous.
- Exceptional customer interaction and communication skills.
- High level of self-motivation and capability to operate independently.
- Professional demeanor, dependable transportation, and a good driving record are essential.
