REPORTS TO: COO                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 FLSA STATUS: Exempt


SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, normal business hours (evenings and weekends as needed)


POSITION SUMMARY:


Revive Ministries Inc. programs do not include a medical facility but recognizes that individuals participating in our programs who are recovering from addiction will also have physical health needs. The Medical Administrator is responsible for leading and managing a small medical team and general medical oversight of clients while participating in Revive Life House. This role is responsible for helping manage health problems and coordinating health care for the clients in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations and the nursing standards of care (assessment of health status, implementation of treatment plan, and evaluation of patient status). The Medical Administrator will participate in executive staff meetings and will be responsible for evaluating processes and implementing effectual change.


GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:


  1. Responsible for leading and managing a small team of medical staff including APRN, RN and Medical Assistants.
  2. Will lead the hiring and progressive disciplinary processes for medical staff
  3. Be well-versed in state regulations and accreditation standards that apply to Revive’s medical services
  4. Monitors the med room and manages staff that are involved in medication distribution
  5. Monitor and evaluate medical progress and modify treatment as needed.
  6. Assess new intakes to determine medical conditions that may impact recovery, need for prescription medications, identify existing or potential medical problems that may not have previously been diagnosed (e.g., hypertension).
  7. Participate as a therapeutic team member for staff and clients in appropriate counseling situations.
  8. Participate in all necessary staff meetings
  9. Educate clients and staff regarding disease processes and self-management of chronic conditions
  10. Adhere to all policies/procedures related to medical processes and medication management; infection control
  11. Maintains relationships with local pharmacies, medical/dental care providers and medical facilities
  12. Will provide mandatory on call coverage as needed by agency for one week at a time, at least once per month within any or all facilities.
  13. All other duties as assigned


BACKGROUND/ EDUCATION:


  1. Must have an unrestricted, active RN license
  2. Must possess a current valid and unrestricted license from the state of Kentucky Licensing Board
  3. Prefer experience with substance use disorder treatment and working with various funding streams
  4. Experience in crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills
  5. Valid Kentucky driver’s license
  6. Sound understanding of all federal and state regulations including HIPAA.


SKILLS REQUIRED:


  1. Must have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
  2. Knowledge of a wide range of nursing and medical principles, theories, techniques, and practices to perform clinical evaluation and care in an inpatient residential facility.
  3. Knowledge and ability to obtain and document complete health histories and physical examinations in addition to the ability to communicate and interpret the data obtained.
  4. Must have the ability to obtain and interpret clinical data as they relate to the diagnosis and treatment of the patient as well as educate patients and families about their medical condition.
  5. Knowledge of community resources needed for patients and their families.
  6. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with advanced interpersonal communication This includes the ability to perform computer-based work on a regular basis.
  7. Maintain appropriate boundaries with clients as outlined in the Code of Conduct/Ethics, including relationships with clients, former clients, and notification requirements, and all other policies.
  8. Experience providing medical guidance and oversight to clients within Revive programs.


WORKING CONDITIONS


Physical Demands:

Must be able to sit, stand, bend, reach overhead and lift up to 10 pounds; travel outside of the office and/or attend meetings both during and after normal work hours, both at and away from the work site. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. May involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Requires about 6 hours of sitting and no more than 2 hours of standing or walking in an 8-hour workday. Frequent stooping is required. 


Environmental Conditions:

The employee will work indoors in a residential setting with central heating and air conditioning. The house itself is open and ventilated well with central heating and air conditioning. The person may work outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions during times of community activities for clients.


Mental Demands:

There are a number of daily deadlines associated with this position, which may cause significant levels of stress for some individuals. The position must deal with the clients, staff, and insurance representatives daily on a variety of issues.
