Position: HVAC Pipefitter - Mechanical Construction
Location: Hartford, CT
Type: Permanent-Full Time
Compensation: $70,000 to $110,000 (Commensurate with Experience)

About the Position: You are the expert…The HVAC Pipefitter is an integral part of the company’s HVAC service and installation team. The HVAC Pipefitter is responsible for performing installation and repairs to HVAC equipment and piping systems. Should be proficient in the fabrication and installation of all types of HVAC piping systems. This role ensures that work is performed in accordance with codes, specifications and Company standards and is completed in a timely manner, with costs contained within the budget. This position will maintain high quality performance on the job, excellent working relationship with customers, a high level of coordination and communication with team members; ensure completion within time schedules, gross margin budgets and quality requirements.

Job Duties and Functions:

  • Install and repair all manner of mechanical piping: hot water, chilled water, steam, refrigeration, condensate, natural gas.
  • Expertise in soldering, brazing, threading, grooved and pressed connections.
  • Knowledgeable of refrigerant piping best practices including VRF systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and drawings.
  • Ability to coordinate work from start to finish including, but not limited to, gathering necessary material and staying within allotted hours and other duties as assigned.
  • Knowledge of demolition and removal of equipment & pipes.
  • Expertise in Core-boring, Fire stopping & sleeve installations.
  • Knowledge of methods to secure pipe with brackets, clamps, and hangers.
  • Coordinate piping system layout with project superintendent, owners’ rep or other trades as required.
  • Stays in close communication with piping department and project manager, to provide feedback on status of project progression.
  • Alerts piping department and project manager, to any issues that may arise.
  • Provides piping department and project manager, feedback to assist with billing and labor forecasting.
  • Creates detailed service tickets for all work performed to include task description and material used.
  • Monitor project material inventory and coordinate return of excess material at project completion.
  • Follows all safety guidelines.
  • Performs needed paperwork for billing and time reporting.
  • Maintains proper truck stock levels and follows inventory guidelines.
  • Maintains company vehicle in good working order. All maintenance including oil changes are performed on time. Any problems are reported and scheduled.
  • Documents model, serial #, unit description, etc. when needed.
  • Available to work overtime during seasonal peaks.
  • Able to lift components, climb ladders, and maintain physical dexterity needed to service HVAC equipment.
  • Follows all company procedures as outlined in the company manual.
  • Works as a team member for the success of the Company and achieve customer satisfaction.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Education - HVAC Technical School or associate degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.
  • License - Must hold a CT D2 or S-2 Heating and Cooling Journeyman’s license and valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge – Must have familiarity with mechanical and electrical operation of HVAC systems and components.
  • Industry Experience – Minimum of 3 years working in the mechanical construction industry.
