SUMMARY
JCCA is seeking Therapists to join our Preventive Services Program, offering targeted intervention to stabilize and strengthen families in crisis when their children are coping with mental illness and stress. The Social Workers will focus on the Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP) model, which is an evidence-based therapeutic intervention method designed to assist families with children aged 0- 5, who have experienced at least one traumatic event, resulting in mental health, attachment and/or behavioral problems. The goal of the CPP therapeutic method is to strengthen child-parent attachment, parental empathy, and resilience in families, helping to break cycles of abuse and neglect, promoting long-term stability

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide individual, group and family counseling for clients/families in compliance with regulations of NYS Department of Social Services and NYC Administration for Children’s Services.
  • Conduct regular home visits to clients
  • Conduct assessments of referred families according to established program procedure.
  • Maintain documentation of all client/family/collateral contacts according to the regulations of NYS Department of Social Services and NYC Administration for Children’s Services.
  • Maintain correspondence and provide all services for clients as required by the Family Assessment Service Plan (FASP).
  • Attend clinical case conferences and staff meetings according to program procedures.
  • Attend inter-agency meetings (including client-specific meetings at schools, hospitals, ACS, etc.).
  • Participate in planning and implementation of client group activities, etc.

*35-hours per week, Monday-Friday –remote work days available- should be flexible to work 1 to 2 late nights per week, up until 8PM

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s in Social Work (MSW), Mental Health Counseling (MHC), Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) or Psychology from an accredited school
  • Knowledge of individual, family and group therapeutic modalities
  • Knowledge of needs of, and identification of, abused and neglected children
  • Knowledge of child development and individual and family functioning.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with hard to reach or resistant individuals and families
  • Excellent writing skills to fulfill state and city regulations for documentation
  • Must demonstrate the ability to collaborate with client and teams that are culturally and professionally diverse
  • Fluency in Spanish and/or Creole French is HIGHLY preferred
