Principal Infrastructure Engineer

PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Principal Infrastructure Engineer will partner with departmental engineers and leaders across the Information Technology organization to design and implement infrastructure technology solutions that meet the changing needs of the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following and other duties as assigned:

Technical Expertise

• Facilitate troubleshooting and collaboration among IT infrastructure, operations, and security teams, with broad expertise in information technology (including networking, computing, operating systems, data centers, cybersecurity, and IT services).
• Act as a technical leader to advise, coordinate, and execute with infrastructure teams on technical design options, ensuring the security, high availability, functionality, and scalability of technology solutions.
• Ensure design options align with our technology philosophy and adhere to industry best practices while making the best use of platform capabilities and options.
• Own technical design documentation, creating and enforcing standards across infrastructure teams.

Servant Leadership

• As a principal engineer, you provide technical leadership, mentorship, and assistance to other engineers and technical team members through sharing knowledge, cultivating growth mindsets, and facilitating team collaboration.

Business Partnership

• Develop relationships with IT engineers, leadership, and enterprise and solution architects, as a trusted advisor.
• Understand business needs and corporate goals, and partner across business and IT teams to design, implement and support infrastructure technology solutions that create measurable business value.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders in decision-making processes and translate complex technology concepts into clear and understandable language for different audiences, including non-technical executives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related fields preferred.
• 10+ years of experience providing engineering support and design across a broad information technology spectrum, including networking, active directory, PKI, Azure cloud services and IaaS, servers and storage, backup and replication, O365 management, information security, and business continuity planning.
• 5+ years of experience as a senior engineer in an enterprise infrastructure environment. Network and Active Directory focus preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in the financial services industry is preferred.
• Demonstrated expert experience in configuration and management of Palo Alto Firewalls (physical and Azure cloud), switching (Cisco and Extreme experience preferred), routing, and wireless networking in a complex enterprise environment.
• Demonstrated expert experience in configuration and management of Active Directory, Azure AD, DNS, Certificate Authority, Backup and Replication, Virtualization Services, and Azure Administration in a complex enterprise environment.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps and CI/CD methodologies and tools in an Azure environment.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at the leadership level across functional groups and business units.
• Strong business acumen, interpersonal skills, as well as positive solution oriented and growth mindset, big picture view and pragmatic approach.
