Certified Medical Assistant (Psychiatry)

We are looking for a new addition to our busy psychiatric practice in Summerlin, Las Vegas, with an immediate start availability. The ideal candidate will have experience working with psychiatric and behavioral health patients, with at least 2 years of experience and Medical Assistant Certification or 1 year of experience in a mental health facility.

Must be organized and detail-oriented and be able to multi-task in a busy environment. EMR experience is required. Must have experience and knowledge of Nevada insurance. We want to help the MA grow and become a pivotal part of our practice for a long period. Re-evaluation will occur every 6 months with potential for promotion.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Handle all administrative duties in a timely manner
• Perform routine clinical tasks to support medical staff
• Answer all patient and pharmaceutical phone calls
• Handle insurance authorizations, verification, and collecting co-pays/deductibles
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient demographics, including collecting information and updating patient charts daily
  • Verify patient information by interviewing the patient, recording medical history, confirming the purpose of the visit
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPPA
• Prepare patient for doctor consultation
• Maintain safe, secure and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations
• Office management such as taking inventory of supplies, reordering, and verifying receipts
• Serve and protect the physician, practice, and other colleagues by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state and local requirements and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards

​Qualifications:

• Previous experience (minimum 2 years, 1 year if in psychiatry) in healthcare administration, patient care, or other related fields
• Proficiency in EHR/EMR software, PracticeFusion or similar preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures
• Proficiency in medical administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments and managing patient records
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective patient service
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and prioritize tasks effectively
• Needs to be a self-starter, and once trained not wait to be told to do every task.

License/Certification:

• BLS Certification (Preferred)
• Certified Medical Assistant (Preferred)
