Reports To: Director of 3PL Engineering

SUMMARY

The Continuous Improvement and Safety Supervisor is responsible for analyzing company processes and makes suggestions on how to improve them, working with the Operations and Supply Chain teams in recognizing opportunities, making and implementing changes, and sustaining improvements. The Continuous Improvement and Safety Supervisor will develop, implement and sustain process improvement initiatives. In this role, you will conduct continuous improvement activities with medium project cost and risk and activities with less defined processes for multiple locations. The Continuous Improvement and Safety Supervisor implements, oversees, and monitors safety programs, policies, and procedures that meet OSHA and other applicable requirements. With the help of a steering committee evaluates the organization’s procedures, facilities, and practices to identify unsafe conditions and to implement safeguards and solutions. Ensures the organization complies with all current safety regulations and that all employees are aware of safety requirements and are prepared to follow safety procedures. Collects data and reports on all safety and accident events.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Additional responsibilities may be assigned.

  • Clearly defining program objectives and scope
  • Evaluating and prioritizing potential improvements based on gains and required effort
  • Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff
  • Accurately analyzing options including impact and feasibility
  • Specifying obstacles and ways to overcome them through continuous improvement
  • Regularly monitoring the implementation of solutions to achieve objectives and expected benefits
  • Knowledge of current OSHA Standards
  • Identify, select, and manage any external training and accreditation bodies, agencies and providers necessary to deliver required training to appropriate standards.

  • Ensure all training activities and materials meet with relevant organizational and quality standards and policies, including health and safety, employment, and equality laws.
  • Conduct worksite audits to identify potential risks and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce or eliminate risk
  • Promote safety awareness through training seminars and informational materials
  • Stay up to date with regulatory changes and update SOPs as needed
  • Investigate workplace accidents and complaints
  • Assist with emergency response plans
  • Oversees Safety Steer Committee
  • Influences and drives safety initiatives enterprise wide

MISCELLANEOUS DUTIES

Special projects assist in companywide activities associated with the department.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No direct reports but consults and oversee the company’s Safety Committees

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

College Degree Preferred. Ability to lead projects. Experience in continuous improvement methodologies. Knowledge of OSHA or ability to Learn OSHA standards to apply on the job. Basic Computer Skills. Must have sound interpersonal skills and be able to work efficiently in a team.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and correspondence. Effective communication/comprehension skills - verbal and written.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to physically count, add, subtract, multiply and divide.

REASONING ABILILTY

Ability to define problems establishes facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
