GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

 

Director Business Development will provide leadership in the planning and implementation of market and customer growth strategies within North America.  Responsibility includes sustaining and improving existing customers while cultivating and capturing significant new business opportunities for MSSL Wiring System Inc. The Director of Business Development will have primary responsibility for the development and growth of a strong new business pipeline with existing and new North American customers across our various markets and will be accountable for evaluating, managing and transforming these new business opportunities into significant growth that meets/exceeds our targeted revenue and profit expectations.  The position will be located and based in Warren, Ohio.

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

  • Perform local and regional market analysis, monitor and report on competitive activity, identify customer needs in the product and services life cycle and communicate this analysis in a concise reporting method to key wiring stakeholders.
  • Develop and grow new customer and existing customer sales using MSSL Growth Initiative process, converting these targeted accounts into profitable, revenue producing programs.
  • Analyze and understand customer strategies, future product plans and expansion activities, as well as the regional competition and market, in order to develop solutions to customer challenges that create new business opportunities.
  • Drive and engage MWSI business operations to exceed supplier score card metrics: Quality, Cost, Delivery and others as applicable. Deploy and enforce company mantras with internal operations in ensuring customer delight.
  • Position relationship with potential new customers such that MSSL Wiring System Inc. is engaged up-front helping to drive/develop customer requests for quotations (RFQ’s). Once developed, rollout and launch the RFQ internally to ensure alignment, completeness and quality in accordance with MWSI requirements and communicate all critical details throughout the internal proposal launch. As the Business Development interface, are responsible for ensuring all RFQ requirements are comprehensively addressed, and are responsible for the presentation of the successful, winning proposal.
  • Responsible for new customer financial and technological qualification, as well as for assessing and determining customer fit. Ensure proposal objectives and deliverables maximize operating profit and revenue growth.
  • Provide company presentations and carry forward and represent the MWSI culture. Represent and provide market exposure for MWSI at industry events, conferences and trade shows.
  • Cultivate customer relationships, deliver effective proposals, and negotiate complex contracts to capture profitable new business. Responsible for negotiating Long Term Agreements and any other contractual documentation, subject to appropriate corporate approvals, including taking appropriate levels of risk and making decisions that have significant business impact.
  • Maintain and sustain business relationships with both current and prospective new customers, close deals and drive high levels of customer satisfaction. Oversee the relationship between the customer and MWSI operational teams, and on an ongoing basis, brief and leverage MWSI staff on strategy and tactics required to enhance our strategic customer partnerships.
  • Successfully negotiate difficult and/or critical business matters, through frequent interaction with subordinates, supervisors, functional peer group managers, as well as with senior and executive management at both MWSI and our customers.
  • Strategic assignments, objectives and goals established and agreed upon with the Business Development VP, which will form the basis for performance measurement on an ongoing basis.

 

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of program management, manufacturing & operations, and supply chain required; strong operational knowledge of wire harness assembly, design, and systems integration strongly desired.
  • Dynamic builder of relationships with customers, with track record of identifying new areas of opportunity and negotiating complex business deals for mutual benefit.
  • An exemplary communicator with customers, executives, peers, and subordinates, commanding respect and creating lasting impressions. Excellent presentation skills required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, multi-tasking and interpersonal skills are necessary.
  • Must have the ability and independent judgment to plan, prioritize and organize diversified workload while interfacing with people at all levels.
  • Strategic out-of-the box thinking, problem-solving, negotiation and decision-making skills. Must also have strong financial education and/or experience and associated business acumen.
  • Well versed in all MS Office applications.
  • Takes ownership and consistently delivers on commitments.
  • Ability to travel 15 – 25%.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Development, Business Management, Engineering or related discipline required; MBA preferred.
