Job Title: Foundry Process Engineer
Reports To: General Manager
FLSA Status: Salaried, Exempt
Supervisor Responsibilities: No – Individual Contributor
Position Summary:
The Foundry Process Engineer is responsible for the design, optimization, and maintenance of foundry equipment to achieve high-quality cast products for the various industries served by the business. The ideal candidate will be responsible for continuous improvement of processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety. The incumbent should demonstrate a commitment to innovation, excellence, and sustainability.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements process improvements to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and minimize waste in both primary and secondary operations.
- Troubleshoots and resolves production issues related to casting processes, molding design, material properties or equipment.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives and may lead such initiatives as it relates to efficiency and utilization.
- Conducts root cause analysis for process deviations and implements corrective actions. May design production methodologies to address gaps.
- Monitors and maintains key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify opportunities for improvement. Holds accountable team and self for achieving established metrics and/or goals.
- Provides technical support and guidance to production personnel.
- Ensures compliance with safety regulations and promotes a culture of safety within the foundry.
Requirements:
- Thorough understanding of foundry processes, including molding, melting, pouring and finishing.
- Proficiency in process optimization techniques such as Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing.
- Must have excellent trouble shooting skills.
- Strong time management, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree metallurgical engineering, materials science, or alike fields.
- Previous manufacturing experience, preferably working with cast iron.
Job Type: Full-time – 8 Hour Shift. Monday through Friday. Occasional overtime may be assigned or required.
Salary: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year base. This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus.
