We are looking for a skilled SQL Developer to join our dynamic team at the Office of Performance Analysis and Integrity, where we manage and enhance the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and associated applications. Our responsibilities span Project Management, Data Warehouse Management, Advanced Analytics, Tableau Server Administration, Technical Collaboration Support, and more.
As a SQL Developer, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and optimizing SQL queries and procedures to support our data warehousing initiatives. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements, develop efficient data models, and ensure data integrity and security within our Oracle Database environment.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with business analysts and data architects to understand data requirements and translate them into SQL code.
- Design and develop SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data into the Enterprise Data Warehouse.
- Optimize SQL code for performance and scalability, ensuring efficient data retrieval and manipulation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data quality, integrity, and performance.
- Develop and maintain documentation for database schemas, data dictionaries, and ETL processes.
- Implement data security measures and ensure compliance with data governance policies.
- Perform unit testing and participate in system integration testing to validate data warehouse functionality.
- Provide technical support and assistance to other team members as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience as a SQL Developer or Database Developer, preferably working with Oracle Database technology.
- Strong proficiency in SQL programming and query optimization techniques.
- Experience with Oracle PL/SQL programming language.
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and methodologies.
- Familiarity with ETL tools and techniques (e.g., Informatica, Oracle Data Integrator).
- Understanding of data modeling principles and techniques.
