Prepress Specialist

Premier printing and marketing company in western MA is busy. The company is searching to hire an experienced Prepress Technician.
Responsibilities include:

• Preflight and create complex electronic files for proofing, offset and digital printing.
• Prepare/Layout artwork for required internal and external business needs in a Mac Environment.
• Evaluate Artwork and discuss with production personnel to determine the appropriate methods of Proofing and Printing the final product.
• Compose Artwork.
• Rip files produced from static and variable data files using digital print equipment and large format inkjet printer.
• Perform device-link color calibration to meet expectations for color quality target.
• Review all proofs and final product samples produced on digital equipment before releasing to internal or external customers.
• Conduct regular and special maintenance on equipment to achieve maximum machine performance based on equipment specifications and acquired knowledge of machine operations.

Qualifications include:

• Minimum 3 - 5 years' experience working on a Mac in production prepress.
• Proficient on Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Quark, Excel and Word.
• Technical understanding of Lithography, and an understanding of Finishing/Mailing.
• Working knowledge of color theory, imposition and CTP workflows. Kodak experience a plus.
• Ability to understand and interpret Digital Files
• Proof Generation, either Electronic or Analog, the ability to send proofs in all formats.
• Detail oriented, self starter and able to multi-task.
• Good communication skills are required.

Starting hourly rate $70,000 - $75,000 + benefits, 401k match and relocation assistance.
