Production Manager

- The Production Manager is responsible for the supervision of plant production and all shifts in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- The Production Manager reports to the Plant Manager at the manufacturing facility.
- Must be able to oversee and work safely in a production environment; must be physically capable of performing job related tasks and job duties
- Ensure that Safety Policies are being followed
- All proper PPE is worn; machine guards are in place and functional
- Track and improve production efficiencies on Change overs, startups and resin savings
- Train and Coach all production personnel
- ISO conformance/audits
- Oversee production and plant operation with the WL Plastics Quality Program as defined in the Quality Program Manual (QPM) and ISO 9001 Procedural Requirements.
- Accountable for the day-to-day management of pipe production and operations to ensure full compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements.
- Accountable for the day-to-day management of pipe production and operations to include;
- Entering Railcar information into SAP coordinating railcars releases and placements on tracks
- Scheduling raw material shipments in relation to production needs and availability.
- Update and schedule production runs working with customer service to meet customer requirement dates and production efficiencies.
- Good knowledge of plant tooling to foresee scheduling conflicts
- Handle staffing of the production floor to include
- Interviewing and Hiring potential candidates.
- Handle Reviews and Disciplinary actions if necessary.
- Scheduling and Vacation Requests on Shift.
- Tracking of plant efficiencies in relation to HDPE production and minor costs for production floor.
- 8-hour shifts to include weekend and night shift work when required.
- Provide leadership in the facility.
- Performing other duties assigned by Plant Manager.
- Can assume Plant Managers responsibilities when not present.
- Accountable for understanding and putting into practice the SHE Principles. Additionally, the Production Manager has a responsibility to cascade the understanding of the principles through the location and their work group.
- Preferred candidates will have at least two years’ post-secondary education. High School Diploma or equivalent with 3 years of supervisor experience.
- Well versed in the production of HDPE pipe.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 certification process and procedures.
- Proven leadership, organizational skills, persuasiveness, initiative, adaptability, troubleshooting skills and communication skills are necessary for success in this position.
- Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus and distinguish color.
- Walk, sit, climb, stoop, bend, kneel, balance, crouch, or crawl, talk and hear.
- Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, and controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs or ladders.
- Use hand to fingers, handle, or feel objects, keyboarding, reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to stand and walk 8-12 hours per day.
- Ability to wear PPE, including but not limited to, hard hat, safety glasses and steel toe footwear that meets ASTM F-2413-2005 standards while in required locations.
- The employee will be required to: read, communicate verbally and in written form, remember and analyze certain information, and remember and understand instructions or guidelines.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and inclement weather conditions; during their shifts, excluding breaks.
- Employees must be able to lift objects up to 50 pounds.
This position combines hands-on technical analysis and administrative tasks
Time will be spent among office, production floor, and lab areas. A large majority of time may be spent working on the production floor.
Work closely with managers, supervisors, office staff and plant personnel
Ability to work inside/outside in all weather conditions including seasonally hot or cold temperatures and in climate weather.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to above TWA limit.
- The Company provides training in SAP, customer service, safety, WHMIS and quality procedures.

- Travel is rarely required. Travel to other cities or manufacturing facilities may be necessary for training or benchmarking purposes.
