Job Description
Title: Certified Nursing Assistant
Location: Camden, ME
Duration: 3 Months
Responsibilities:
- Assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Provide assistance to patients with tasks such as bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and feeding.
- Monitoring Vital Signs: Measure and record vital signs including temperature, blood pressure, pulse rate, and respiratory rate. Report any significant changes to the nursing staff.
- Mobility Assistance: Help patients with mobility, including walking, transferring between beds and wheelchairs, and repositioning in bed to prevent pressure ulcers.
- Emotional Support: Offer emotional support and companionship to patients, listening to their concerns and providing reassurance.
- Observation and Reporting: Observe patients for changes in condition or behavior and report observations to the nursing staff. Document patient information accurately and maintain confidentiality.
- Assisting with Medical Procedures: Assist nurses with medical procedures such as wound care, catheter care, and specimen collection. Ensure all equipment is prepared and sterile.
- Activities and Therapy: Assist in recreational activities for patients and help with physical therapy exercises as directed by healthcare professionals.
- Maintaining Cleanliness: Keep patient rooms and common areas clean and organized. Assist with maintaining cleanliness of medical equipment.
- Providing Nutritional Support: Assist patients with eating and drinking, ensuring they receive adequate nutrition and hydration. Administer basic nutrition as per instructions.
- Ensuring Safety: Follow proper lifting techniques, infection control protocols, and safety procedures to prioritize patient safety. Assist in emergency situations and evacuation procedures.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Provide updates on patients' conditions and respond to inquiries or requests for assistance promptly.
- Continuing Education: Engage in ongoing education to stay updated on best practices, regulations, and advancements in healthcare. Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
- Education: Completion of a state-approved CNA training program, which typically includes classroom instruction and supervised clinical experience.
- Certification: Pass a competency exam to obtain certification as a Nursing Assistant. Certification requirements vary by state.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Compassion: Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards patients, with a genuine desire to help others.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to observe and report changes in patients' conditions accurately, as well as maintain detailed patient records.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively as part of a healthcare team, following instructions and communicating effectively with colleagues.
