What is Onsite U?
Onsite University offers clinical education at specified Onsite locations for the training and education of radiologic technologists who want to undergo advanced preparation to become certified and registered mammographers. At Onsite we don't work weekends and offer the opportunity to use the latest 3D tomosynthesis digital mammography equipment in an OB/Gyn office environment.
What do you need to be the right candidate for this role?
- ARRT required.
- Minimum of 1 year of practical experience.
- Completed 40 hr. initial training course in Mammography.
- Must maintain CEU's as required by State and or National accreditation bodies.
- Willingness to learn and accept constructive criticism.
- Possess critical thinking skills and displays professional judgment.
What are your responsibilities?
Reports To: Regional Director/VP Operations
Training Oversight: Manager of Clinical Education and Site Clinical Instructor
This position is under the general direction of the practice physicians, off-site radiologist, and VP Operations or Regional Director. It will also work directly with Practice providers, their administrator, practice staff, and various members of the Onsite University and Onsite Women's Health organization as needed. This position will also interact with Radiologists and their staff, Hospitals, and/or Radiology Imaging Centers.
The ideal candidate will possess a well-balanced skill set that allows for successful interaction with a diverse range of patients in order to develop superior mammography technical skills. The position's primary responsibility is to learn to perform Digital and 3D Mammography of the breast at a technical level that will produce the highest quality mammographic images for diagnostic cancer screening purposes under direct supervision which will eventually lead to independent performance.
- Specializes in the production of screening and diagnostic mammograms for early detection of breast cancer.
- Prepares patients for the mammographic procedure stressing the need for compression.
- Explains procedures to the patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
- Record patient clinical and family history relevant to the performance and interpretation of the mammographic procedure per location site policy.
- Position patient and equipment to acquire views per Onsite protocol and radiologist request.
- Instructs patient in proper breathing technique prior to exposure.
- Moves mammographic equipment to specific positions and adjusts controls to set exposure factors based on knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques and protocols.
- Practices radiation protection techniques by using beam restrictive devices and/or patient shielding.
- Follows prescribed safety standards in operating all required equipment.
- Evaluates digital and tomographic images for diagnostic quality and take corrective action as necessary.
- Ensures equipment is in proper working order at all times.
- Performs all required QC testing required to comply with manufacturer, MQSA, ACR and State requirements/regulations.
- Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
- Processes routine paperwork and all required data entry.
- Participates in professional development activities.
- Prepares all required reports and data pursuant to MQSA and State requirements.
- Performs all mammography tracking following MQSA guidelines and requirements.
- Maintains all QA documents necessary to exceed Annual FDA Inspection requirements.
- Follows and documents all ARRT structured education and clinical experience requirements prior to the submission of an application for certification and registration.
- Performs all other duties as may be assigned.
