Job Description

JOB TITLE: FINANCIAL CONTROLLER

 

 

Summary:

As a member of management, the Financial Controller will be responsible for a broad range of activities that support the financial effectiveness and excellence of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles and, or international financial reporting standards.

 

The Financial Controller is responsible for direct supervision of all day-to-day accounting and financial activities. Primary responsibilities include daily and period end processes, preparing Period, Quarter and Annual reporting while supervising Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, GL Activities and reporting. The Financial Controller will create and implement systems which align with the policies and procedures at our company.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all financial functions including accounting, consolidation of financials, budget, credit, insurance, tax, and treasury.
  • Direct and control finance staff to ensure that they are appropriately motivated and developed to fulfill their responsibilities.
  • Contribute to the achievement of the company's business objectives by providing advice and guidance on financial strategy.
  • Drive the financial planning of the company by analyzing its performance and risks.
  • Retain constant awareness of the company’s financial position and act to prevent problems.
  • Prepare timely and detailed reports on financial performance on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Conduct analysis to make forecasts and report to upper executives.
  • Develop and control the company’s annual operating budget to ensure that all financial targets are met, and financial and statutory regulations are complied with.
  • Provide financial advice and guidance to the company's managers and staff to enable them to achieve company objectives.
  • Oversee the preparation of the company's financial accounts to ensure that these are presented accurately and on time.
  • Maintain an internal audit program to ensure that the company complies with financial procedures and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain all necessary systems (i.e., financial software), policies and procedures to ensure effective and efficient fiscal management within the company.
  • Monitor external contracts and services provided by suppliers to ensure that these are operating effectively and provide the best value to the company.
  • Analyze financial and operational information to produce accurate forecasts of business, industry, and economic conditions for use in making sound strategic business decisions.
  • Improve financial status by analyzing results and variances; identifying trends; recommending actions.
  • Conduct all necessary actions to ensure that the company meets its financial and legal obligations.

 

Other duties may include:

·         Attend and participate in a variety of meetings and task force groups as directed, maintaining required level of knowledge pertaining to operating procedures, requirements, processes, and policies.

·         Lead and/or participate in projects or task force groups which focus on quality issues.

·         Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

  • GAAP and financial reporting technical skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws, and best practices.
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills, diligence, and accuracy; ability to think strategically in a dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional knowledge of reporting procedures and record keeping.
  • Sound time management and multi-tasking skills with propensity to self-manage.
  • Ability to articulate concepts and recommendations in a clear and concise manner.
  • Methodical and diligent with outstanding planning abilities.
  • Proficient in computer technology and systems.
  • Excellent listening, problem solving, interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and finance management software (SAGA/SAP).
  • Experience with multi-national & multi-currency companies.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:                                                   

This position has supervisory responsibilities.

           

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability required:

·         Must be able to secure and maintain airport security clearance.

  • Must be able to pass post offer criminal background check.

·         Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English language fluently.

 

Education:

·         BA in finance or accounting, business administration, business management, or related field.

·         Master of Business Administration (MBA) preferred.

·         Minimum 5 years of experience in the field.

·         Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation, CMA (Certified Management Accountant) certification is a plus.
