Job Description

High Side Technology has a need for a senior-level software engineer to serve as the Information Security Systems Engineer (ISSE) providing cyber security, systems engineering and software development support to Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC) program clients. The successful candidate will lead and support the design and implementation of cybersecurity controls within application modernization projects across the software development life cycle (SDLC).

The ideal candidate will serve as the technical cybersecurity advisor on all matters involving cybersecurity within and across software systems and responsible for implementing all measures and processes to maintain the Authority To Operate (ATO) of the software system.


The duties and responsibilities as the ISSE include, but are not limited to:

  • Integrating Information Assurance/Cybersecurity disciplines into the system design, development, integration, and implementation.
  • Aiding in conducting risk assessment and provide recommendations for application/system design.
  • Identifying information protection needs and defining System Security Requirements.
  • Applying security risk assessment methodology to system development.
  • Coordinating with the PM to ensure that all information protection requirements for the IS are identified.
  • Ensuring that the integration of the information protection requirements into Information Technology acquisition processes through purposeful security design or configuration and built in to new IS releases.
  • Developing, submitting, and maintaining the Certification & Accreditation (C&A) package for systems and programs in the developmental and acquisition process.
  • Providing evidence and documentation from the IS security engineering process to ensure that the C&A Package meets the information protection requirements for the certification level appropriate for the criticality and the complexity of the IS.
  • Ensuring that the security controls meet or exceed the information protection requirements by conducting information protection effectiveness tests at the end of each stage of the IS security engineering process.


Requirements:

  • United States citizenship required
  • Top Secret/SCI security clearance or current Top Secret SSBI with TS/SCI eligibility required; may require CI polygraph
  • Bachelors degree in computer science, engineering, or a related scientific discipline required (masters degree desired)
  • 8+ years of experience
  • Cyber Security Certifications (CEH, RedHat Certified Engineer, Security +, Microsoft, CISSP)



A successful candidate will be expected to work as part of a distributed multi-disciplinary team environment on government customer site and work independently as needed. A successful candidate must demonstrate exceptional people skills, professionalism, organization, and leadership skills. This position requires interaction with government customers at all levels of authority and technical acuity, and therefore a successful candidate must be able to effectively communicate technical and programmatic information through excellent verbal and written communication skills.
