Job Description

Gary and Mary West Pace is a thriving all inclusive day center for the fragile elderly. We are seeking a rockstar Therapy Supervisor to join our team.

This a a full time position, Monday through Friday.

About PACE

Philanthropists Gary and Mary West founded West Health with the mission of enabling seniors to successfully age in place with access to high-quality, affordable health and support services that preserve and protect their dignity, quality of life, and independence. The Gary and Mary West PACE (Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly), affiliated with West Health (www.westhealth.org), is a new non-profit that delivers medical, social, and behavioral services to the frail elderly to the North County of San Diego. This PACE center will be entrepreneurial in nature and will focus on innovations and bringing new processes to the traditional PACE environment.

Position Summary

Under the guidance of the Clinical Services Director, the Therapies Supervisor is responsible for developing and supervising the therapeutic activity programs and staff, with the goal of meeting the individualized therapy needs of participants served. This position is responsible for supervising the restorative therapy department, consisting of licensed therapy professionals and technicians.

Essential Functions:

  • Supervises and oversees clinical and administrative functioning of the Restorative Therapy department, ensuring adherence to quality and PACE policies.
  • Provides input and recommendations to the Clinical Services Director, related to new employee hiring, caseload allocations, roles and responsibilities and FTE determination.
  • Provides input and recommendations to the Clinical Services Director for the annual budget process related to staffing, supplies and capital purchases.
  • Under the guidance of the Clinical Services Director, provides support, coaching and discipline for all direct reports.
  • Orients new staff to the PACE model and CMS, regulatory requirements and ensures compliance with PACE guidelines.
  • Assists with policy and procedure solutions to develop best practices for Restorative Therapy services.
  • Participates in IDT, care planning, and enrollment care conferences when necessary.
  • Participates in conducting initial, periodic, and unscheduled participant assessments.
  • Identifies and develops a specific plan of care for participants in need of Restorative Therapies, sets goals, and participates in providing treatment.
  • Participates in the coordination of the participant's delivery of care services.
  • Provides training and education to participants, staff, and caregivers involved in the treatment plans of the participant that can be performed by them.
  • Participates in assessing the need for adaptive and/or durable medical equipment, specialized shoes, and prosthesis and makes recommendations to IDT.
  • Reviews assessments and discharges participants when appropriate.
  • Completes home visits when appropriate.
  • Assesses the need for therapy services provided at the Center and makes recommendations to IDT.
  • Initiates home modification requests indicated by IDT.
  • Documents in the participants medical records as required by policy.
  • Actively participates in organizational QI and compliance activities.
  • Abides by all established West PACE policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Certification:

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical or Occupational Therapy program is required.
  • Must be a licensed therapist in the State of California.
  • Must have a current driver's license and driving record must be in compliance with Company policy.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Proof of Auto Insurance.

Skills & Experience:

  • A minimum of one-year experience working with the frail elderly population is required.
  • A minimum of two years working as PT or OT.
  • A minimum of two years supervisory experience preferred.
  • High level of autonomy is required.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule.
  • Able to work with the IDT setting.
  • Proficient with transportation scheduling system and reporting.
  • Demonstrates problem solving skills and flexibility working with the PACE team to coordinate urgent transportation needs.
  • Able to utilize computer skills in the work force.

Medical Clearance:

Employees must have medical clearance for communicable diseases and up-to-date immunizations before having direct participant contact. Job offers are contingent upon a successful pre-employment drug screen, background check, and physical assessment. Proof of Covid Vaccination required.
