The Role…

We are looking for a driven sales professional to manage a portfolio of key accounts specifically: AWG, Nash/Finch-Spartan Nash & UNFI, driving revenue sales and maximizing long term Hartz category volume by achieving sales targets for overall territory, customer and category volume, and profit goals. In this role you will establish yourself as an industry expert, delivering fact-based market insights on consumer/products to identify and drive new sales opportunities.

This position will work remotely from their home base, located in the Kansas City metro area. Local candidates only.

Your responsibilities …

  • Achieve sales targets for overall territory, customer and category within approved trade spend budget through negotiations with the buyer on sales and product placement. Develop, monitor, and continually revise assigned accounts’ annual business plans
  • Analyze point of sale and other sales data; communicate trends, insights, and risks via performance reports to Hartz internal teams, and to accounts’ category/replenishment teams. Use data to update and adjust the customer business plan
  • Identify opportunities for all category and line reviews on an ongoing basis, building a selling story to secure new business as well as increase existing distribution across all categories
  • Work in close partnership with the internal Brand and Customer Planning teams, along with our external broker partners, to identify key opportunities in the Mid-West Wholesaler/Distributor territory, and develop strategies and programs that will deliver profitable, incremental sales
  • Build exceptionally strong relationships with key account stakeholders and brokers through a consistent touch base and meetings
  • Understand and communicate account strategies and goals to the internal team
  • Ensure that retail, margins, and promotions fall within the published brand strategy for all items and categories, including proper shelf position
  • Forecasting customer events as required
  • Effectively manage the administrative responsibilities, including price change forms, deductions, and selling and planning schedules
  • Attend/participate industry, customer events, trade/trade show events, and company sales/marketing meetings
  • Establish and maintain effective cross-functional relationships with Customer Planning and Brand teams
  • Perform other duties or projects as assigned

Requirements

You will have…

  • Minimum 2-5 years of direct sales experience, calling on CPG retailer headquarter accounts with a history of setting and delivering a growth agenda; pet care industry a plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business or Marketing or related years of sales experience
  • Proven negotiations skills, demonstrated ability to close business, and grow current account list
  • Experience with category management, fact-based selling techniques (point of sale and syndicated data analysis), and the ability to create, develop, and present this information in a compelling fashion from the ground up
  • Strong analytical skills in Point of Sale (POS) and syndicated data
  • Proficiency with MS Office: Excel, Word
  • Willingness and ability to travel
