Technician Intern

Position Summary
The Technician Intern will gain an in depth understanding of CraneWorks/RentalWorks business through job shadowing in various Service Department areas performing work directed by the department supervisor or lead Technician. Work assignments will include all aspects of the Service Department including the wash rack, equipment shop, and field service. The Technician Intern will be assigned a mentor at the beginning of the internship to provide guidance and coaching.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work on the wash rack with the “Green Tag” team to prep machines for rent
- Shadow Shop Technicians and Field Service Technicians and provide assistance on machine repairs
- Assist in repairs and maintenance to rental equipment in the shop
- Test rental equipment for proper operation
- Inspect rental equipment for rental readiness
Qualifications & Skills:
- General understanding of mechanical/technical terms
- Willingness to learn to operate and repair rental equipment
- Ability to interpret technical drawing and diagrams of parts
- Motivated to work as part of a team with the common goal of putting equipment on rent in the best condition possible
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or enrolled in High School
License & Certification:
- Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in an office environment, equipment shop environment, or job site. Noise, fumes, and chemicals associated with a shop environment is expected. Work may be performed on various job sites and terrain. Exposure to risk and all weather conditions is associated with this position. Must be able to climb on and off trucks, cranes, and heavy mobile equipment safely. The employee will be required to wear appropriate PPE equipment.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods standing, crouching, bending, climbing, stooping, reaching, twisting, pushing, and pulling, repetitive wrist and hand movements, hearing and seeing (depth perception and peripheral vision)
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Works outside in all weather conditions including extreme heat and cold
- Is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts
- Frequently exposed to fumes and airborne particles
- Must be able to safely climb various types of ladders
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to climb on and off heavy mobile equipment safely
- Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions
- Regular and predictable attendance is required
