JOB SUMMARY: The purpose of this classification is to provide highly responsible, facilitative, and creative instruction of enrichment, specialty, and developmental learning activities within a structured classroom setting.
An Artportunity Knocks’ TV/Film/Video Camp Coach is responsible for enthusiastically engaging K-5 students by facilitating lessons, hands-on projects, games, and activities with a TV/Film/Video focus which may require outdoor activities at times. This role must demonstrate at least an intermediate level of TV/Film/Video instruction, classroom management, and curriculum development. Experience facilitating youth enrichment, specialty, and/or development classes in TV/Film/Video is preferred.
- Facilitate Artportunity Knocks-powered curricula using daily/weekly lesson plans, projects, and class routines for assigned student group
- Design and instruct a variety of TV/Film/Video activities that are grade-level specific and appropriate in addition to general AK plans
- Develop students’ enrichment and/or talents by creating fun and exploratory experiences which may include constructing a final project to be presented at the close of the program/camp (grand finale presentation)
- During the film class, you will also implement Acting techniques and lessons for students to learn how to act in front of the camera
- Assist with the following projects in the production: Daily TV/Film/Video and media projects; Field Production (Videography/Photography, Audio, Lighting, Gripping) Studio Production (Canon Rebel T6i Camera, Studio Lighting, Basic Sound, Floor Directing, etc) Post Production (AVID Adrenaline, Script Writing, Story Editing, Transcriptions & Closed Captioning, After Effects)
- Implement appropriate behavior and classroom management techniques adhering to Artportunity Knocks (AK) Handbook policies and procedures, in accordance with the school/site’s Student Handbook policy guidelines (training provided)
- Facilitate and encourage student participation in camp activities
- Identify teachable moments and capitalize on them
- Supervise and assist mealtime activities
- Ensure assigned student group is always supervised and safe
- Model good behavior for students as it relates to sportsmanship, manners, respect, and citizenship
- Work in a team environment; build and maintain proper workplace rapport with co-workers, students, and parents
- Perform all responsibilities in a manner that guarantees the safety of students
QUALIFICATIONS: Requires a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) AND at least 1 year of experience working with children, preferably in an afterschool or summer camp setting. Must have TV/Film/Video teaching experience or skillset with the ability to craft lesson plans for instruction to K-5 students. College juniors/seniors/graduate students/recent graduates with TV/Film/Media, Communications, Digital Media, Visual or Performing Arts, or related majors are encouraged to apply to gain real-world skills, professional training, and hands-on experience. - Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines
- IMAC computer environments experience Bonus Skills: Final Cut Pro, Editing Software, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, image capture [or other software/platforms/programs you've used related to the above]
- Must coordinate efforts with students/class groups to create a Grand Finale Production
- Must possess television, acting, film, or professional experience
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Current Standard First Aid Certification/ Child & Adult CPR Certification preferred. A valid driver’s license with an available vehicle for work is required.
NOTES: Tasks require the ability to exert moderate physical effort in light to active work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, bending, kneeling, light jogging, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of lightweight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time walking, standing, and/or sitting.
