Job Summary: A Senior Accountant/Controller is responsible for the day-to-day accounting and record keeping activities for this organization. This position will oversee general accounting operations and perform complex accounting tasks, including journal entries, reconciliations, and verifying agency financial transactions. The Senior Accountant will maintain a ledger to ensure the effectiveness and accuracy of all accounting tasks, including transactional processing, financial analysis, and monthly financial statements. They work closely with company leadership and other finance professionals to reconcile accounts and produce quarterly or annual reports. Their job is to help prepare information for external accounting audits.
Primary Duties:
- Takes a hands-on approach in managing the day-to-day operations of all financial departments, including AP/AR
- Monitors and reviews the General Ledger for accuracy and manages Fixed Asset Inventory
- Responsible for tracking and reporting all cash for the hospital. Ensures proper Cash Flow management by accounting for cash sources and use.· Ensures proper entry documentation of journal entries.
- Responsible for timely completion of monthly and year end closings.
- Provides day to day management of staff performing revenue cycle related functions. Including oversight/accuracy of hospital Charge Master.
- Responsible for the achievement of Accounts receivable and Bad Debt reserve goals.
- Implements procedures to minimize claim denial rate, bad debt, improves cash flow, bad debt reserve reduction, and ensures industry standard clean claim submission rate.
- Prepare other revenue related schedule for internal and external stakeholder.
- Serves as liaison for all financial audits, including developing an internal audit system to eliminate errors.
- Ensures the organization keeps important company records safe e.g., financial records, lease agreements, real estate documents etc.
- Enhances and standardizes dept. work-flow processes throughout the revenue cycle to assist in achieving consistency in performance, including development of policy and procedures.
- Maintains compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and governing regulatory protocol.
- Ensures all policies, procedures and initiatives are handled in compliance with HIPAA privacy and security regulations.
- Performs other job duties as directed or required to meet the needs of the department and the organization.
- Must be willing to travel to facilities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or Healthcare required. MBA Preferred.
- 5+ years healthcare accounting experience
- 3+ years management experience
- Must have strong healthcare provider billing background. Third party payor billing experience with payors nationally.
- Microsoft Suite experience (Advanced Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
- Strong Communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel.
