Visante is looking to add a 340B Program Director to our 340B Service Line. This individual will report to the Service Line’s Managing Director and be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance in support of the 340B Service line, including ensuring that the qualifications of the covered entities are met and maintained, the program is fully implemented in all areas of qualified use, related records are complete and accurate, and that it meets all primary objectives as defined by the leadership of the organization. 

This individual will play a critical role for our client organizations, with support extending across all types of covered entities and encompassing mixed-use, retail-owned pharmacies, and contract pharmacies.

About the Role (Full-Time and Remote (Work From Home)

The 340B Program Director’s responsibilities include the following:

  • Contributing to the organization’s compliance expertise on 340B Program details, policies, and procedures to include tracking and reporting, purchasing and inventory oversight, and 340B software maintenance
  • Offering and providing guidance to clients regarding their 340B Program, and providing necessary reporting
  • Developing 340B related policies in accordance with state, federal, and system program requirements, ensuring that policies and procedures are developed and implemented according to organizational, regional, national, state, and federal requirements
  • Understanding Medicare cost reports, trial balances, and crosswalks to ensure covered entity accuracy
  • Claims tracer experience, to include mixed-use, retailed-owned, and contract pharmacy
  • Understanding of pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) practices as it relates to retail claims adjudication
  • Analyzing contract pharmacy service agreements (PSAs) to ensure compliance with regulations and OPAIS database
  • Providing ongoing training, education, and communication required for the 340B Program
  • Performing audits through developing, executing, and documenting of 340B compliance
  • Assessing opportunities for cost savings and business improvements in 340B contract pharmacy utilization, purchasing, and inventory practices
  • Supporting clients in the monitoring of operational records, inventory, and 340B and non-340B purchasing accounts to ensure software and/or tools are working properly and accurately
  • Helps to support client troubleshooting and maintenance of client software, including CDM/crosswalk for new products/NDCs and product changes to ensure accuracy of the utilization report, as well as the efficiency and accuracy of the charging process

The following education/experience/knowledge is required/preferred:

  • Required:
    • 5-8 or more years of related work experience
    • Prior experience managing a 340B Program in a sizeable organization
    • 340B Drug Pricing Program purchasing activities and analysis experience
    • GPO pricing experience and GPO wholesaler contracting experience, utilizing wholesaler reports
    • Pharmaceutical purchasing/inventory experience
    • Proficiency with at least one split billing vendor/platform(s)
    • 340B split billing internal audit experience
    • Working knowledge of at least one electronic medical record system
    • Must reside near a major US International Airport and be able to satisfy the travel component associated with the role (roughly 25% travel to client sites and meetings, including visiting hospital sites with possible short notice.  Travel may, at times, require long and irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary)
  • Preferred:
    • BS degree in Pharmacy, Business, or Healthcare strongly preferred
    • 1-3 years of supervisory/management experience
    • Previous consulting and/or client-facing experience
    • Comprehensive knowledge of the 340B drug discount program, including five or more years of experience in a hospital pharmacy or an in-house retail pharmacy setting

The following skills and abilities should include:

  • Accuracy and timeliness, as well as attention to detail
  • Proficiency with personal computers and computer applications, including Windows and the Microsoft  Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Familiarity with pharmacy dispensing software and 340B split-billing software is desirable
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication
  • Customer-focused with strong personable, social, and communication skills
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues
  • Discretion and a high degree of professionalism
  • Self-direction with the ability to work independently
  • Flexibility and an attitude of collaboration/cooperation within a group and with clients

  • Strong awareness of pharmacy operations, pharmacy supply chain, and hospital operations
  • Understanding of pharmacy purchasing practices, pharmacy billing practices, integration of pharmacy software, 340B software implementation, 340B rules & regulations, and pharmacy software systems
  • In-depth understanding of contract pharmacy and split billing program administration with experience in an account management, implementation, or operational support role for a 340B program
  • Demonstration of good judgment, multi-tasking and, meeting deadlines with a sense of urgency, and being able to prioritize competing demands
  • Strong client relationship, interpersonal, and team skills
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues, demonstrating strong analytical and creative skills
  • Ability to make sound and timely decisions based on analysis, experience, and judgment
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills and the ability to advise clients professionally and positively
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient-related information
  • Excellent knowledge of medication reimbursement and healthcare prior authorization/coding
  • Excellent knowledge and proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
