The Role

IG is seeking to recruit a Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead the Information Technology (IT) organization for the company and to serve as a critical member of the senior leadership team. The CIO will build and lead a world-class IT organization aligned with the overall business and growth strategy of the company. They will be responsible for driving a company-wide IT transformation, including reengineering customer-facing capabilities to drive business growth, re-investing in and optimizing foundational business systems, employing digital technologies as business improvement enablers, modernizing IT/cloud infrastructure, ensuring pragmatic and effective cybersecurity, and forging strategic supplier relationships – all while creating a nimble, reliable, and cost-effective IT org. A significant role for the CIO will be to anticipate industry change and identify opportunities for technology innovation that helps to solidify IG’s leadership position within a niche competitive industry landscape that focuses on personalized customer service. The CIO will also be tasked with optimizing the IT operational and capital budgets and to continue to develop the talent pipeline of the IT organization through strong recruitment, training, mentorship, and actively rewarding and recognizing exemplary contributions.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a forward-thinking business technology leader with experience driving innovation in a niche, global, customer-facing distribution environment. The CIO will demonstrate a strong customer service philosophy and possess a record of professional experience that reveals progressive responsibilities and significant senior-level management experience. Ideal candidate must possess strong executive-level influencing skills to , exhibiting a high level of energy, integrity, and dedication.

Candidates will have experience in industries with supply chain and distribution capabilities and demonstrate a track record of leading significant business transformations within complex, multi-national/cultural environments where system availability, data and business insights, and modern digital technology investments (both internal and customer-facing) are of strategic importance. Specific experience implementing modern ERP systems on a global scale is strongly desired.

The ideal candidate must possess strong executive-level influencing skills and exhibit a high level of energy, integrity and dedication. The CIO will be an outstanding people leader, capable of attracting, developing, and retaining IT talent and building a performance-driven culture.

Additional Key Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • Develop and implement the organization's overall technology strategy in alignment with the business goals and objectives.
  • Lead and manage the information technology department, including overseeing a team of IT professionals and external vendors.
  • Drive digital transformation initiatives and leverage technology to drive business growth and efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain the organization's IT infrastructure, ensuring the security, reliability, and scalability of all IT systems and applications.
  • Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions and ROI on technology investments.
  • Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies, providing strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment of IT initiatives with overall business objectives.
  • A minimum of 10 years of executive IT leadership in global organizations, preferably in heavy distribution industries.
  • Experience leading an IT team of internal and external resources in a global, distributed organization.
  • Deep experiential knowledge implementing ERP systems on a global basis.
  • History of investing in customer-facing B2B/portal experiences.
  • IT Enterprise Architecture experience a significant plus.
  • IT optimization experience preferred, including foundational IT governance (e.g., budgetary, project management, business-aligned IT demand management, strategic supplier relationships, etc.).

Location

  • The CIO will be based in proximity to the Danville, VA global headquarters, which can include the surrounding areas such as Greensboro, NC, USA. Relocation assistance will be determined on an as needed and individual basis.
  • Most work will be needed to support the Danville-led business functions with considerable time in the Danville office and local distribution center. Some travel will be targeted as needed.
