Job Description

Title: Mechanical Engineer

Location: Kenosha, WI

 

Job Summary:

The Mechanical Engineer is accountable for product design and adaptation to fulfill customer requirements. Additionally, this role will support the Program Manager in coordinating product planning and development. Ensures adherence to schedules and oversees technical product development. Also takes the lead or participates in initiatives aimed at cost reduction and enhancing productivity as required.

 

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

·       Utilize 3D parametric modeling systems to design and develop lighting products.

·       Conduct thermal and static simulations to analyze and enhance designs.

·       Collaborate with prototype shops to produce custom designs using 3D printing, precision proto molding, and precision machining.

·       Collaborate with performance laboratories for thermal, photometric, and electrical testing.

·       Take ownership of specific components of product design throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring adherence to cost, performance, and schedule requirements.

·       Initiate and manage relationships with new vendors and alternative components.

·       Participate in initiatives aimed at enhancing productivity with manufacturing engineering.

·       Act as a technical liaison for purchasing.

·       Execute Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), drafting, documentation, and related tasks as necessary.

·       Generate layouts and detailed drawings (flat, form, weld assemblies, etc.) using 3D solid modeling software.

·       Occasional domestic travel may be required.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

·       Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering is a mandatory qualification.

·       Preferably possesses 2 or more years of experience in the lighting industry.

·       Proficient in CAD/CAM systems, with additional related experience gained from previous roles.

·       Demonstrates excellent problem-solving skills and the capacity to identify the root cause of issues and implement corrective measures.

·       Strong written and verbal English communication skills are essential.

·       Maintains a professional demeanor and appearance, effectively collaborating with customers, vendors, and colleagues at all levels.

·       Exhibits a high level of self-initiative and reliability.

·       Flexibility to accommodate overtime duties or schedule adjustments when necessary.

·       Resourceful and meticulously organized, with a keen focus on detail and accuracy.

·       Capable of managing, prioritizing, and juggling multiple tasks.

·       Works effectively within a team environment.
