Job Description

Our customer is developing a new product line for carbon/carbon brakes to serve the aircraft aftermarket. Together, we are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join their dynamic team. This is a key role in optimizing the production processes, ensuring efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Responsibilities:

Process Design and Development:

  • Manage specification and acquisition of new equipment, installation, operation, & maintenance.
  • Design, develop, and implement manufacturing processes and systems that meet customer requirements, production planning, and quality standards.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost-benefit analysis for new processes or process improvements.
  • Review brake engineering drawings and designs.

Production Support:

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise to resolve manufacturing issues and improve production yields.
  • Collaborate with production teams to identify root causes of problems and implement corrective actions.
  • Evaluate and maintain process capabilities within design tolerances.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including work instructions, SOPs, and process specifications.
  • Identify and collaborate with peers on improving safety, process capability, and quality.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Evaluate work orders and set routing within ERP System.
  • Collect and analyze data to identify opportunities for improvement and track key performance indicators.
  • Lead or participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at reducing waste, increasing throughput, and enhancing product quality.

New Product Introduction (NPI):

  • Support the NPI process by collaborating with brake design engineers to ensure manufacturability and scalability of new brake products.
  • Develop and validate manufacturing processes for new products, including tooling design, process validation, and production ramp-up.
  • Perform reverse engineering as needed.

Quality Assurance:

  • Work closely with Quality Assurance teams to ensure compliance with FAA regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of quality control measures, including in-process inspections and testing protocols.
  • Investigate and resolve quality issues through root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventative actions.

Qualifications, Education, and/or Experience Required:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar technical degree. Advanced degree or certifications are a plus.
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing engineering role with 5+ years of experience.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and equipment.
  • Experience with Ceramics and Composites.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software for design and simulation (e.g., SolidWorks, MasterCAM).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to apply analytical methods to troubleshoot production issues.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and lead project teams.
  • Experience in continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong attention to detail, with a focus on quality and safety in manufacturing operations.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and thrive in a dynamic, results-driven environment.
  • Proficient with computers, email, MS Office.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Prior experience with AS9100, ISO9001, or similar quality management system.
  • Able to communicate effectively with suppliers, vendors, and contractors.
  • Prior experience with automation & robotics.
  • CNC Machining experience.
  • Composite Ply Cutter experience.
