Requirements:

The Food Production Supervisor will lead team members to attain production and quality goals. Execute and follow up on various production process improvement opportunities identified. Ensures production resources including materials, equipment and human resources are available as needed to maintain production schedules. Supports continuous improvement goals in safety, quality, cost and customer service.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Supervise all production activities in accordance with company policies, programs, and standards concerning safety, quality, productivity and cost
  • Provide continual leadership and guidance to team members for the purpose of increasing their effectiveness and establishing good working relationships
  • Actively promote facility safety and environmental programs and procedures that are in compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements
  • Actively promote adherence to quality system, sanitation, GMP and HACCP standards to achieve a finished product within quality control specifications
  • Manage staffing levels to current labor standard requirements
  • Assign responsibilities to team members, as required to meet planned production schedules
  • Apply consistent disciplinary actions in accordance with plant policies and procedures
  • Review shift activities and results, making adjustments as required for continuous improvement
  • Responsible for hourly / daily / weekly production reporting
  • Investigate production delays and takes corrective action as necessary
  • Keep management informed of the status of production and promptly notify appropriate member(s) of management of issues impacting food safety, food quality, or production
  • Promote an environment conducive to teams, teamwork, and line-driven accountability
  • Monitor production to ensure that quality, productivity, and cost standards are maintained.
  • Provide employee training to ensure that employees are performing job responsibilities effectively.
  • Enforce plant rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Evaluate subordinate performance, communicate with employees, and provide information for work performance improvement.
  • Participate in the support of plant and company safety programs, promoting and maintaining a high level of awareness and adherence to defined employee safety requirements such as lock-out/tag-out, personal protective equipment, confined space entry, etc.

Position Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Bachelors' degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering, Food Science, Agricultural Sciences, or other Natural Science degrees preferred. Other degrees will be considered.
  • Three (3) or more years of leading employees in a manufacturing environment, preferred
  • Experience in a food production/packaging environment, preferred
  • Experience working with Continuous Improvement methodologies, preferred
  • Able to use MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and loss
  • Knowledge of GMPs
  • Working knowledge of plant equipment and safety devices
  • Ability to distinguish normal/abnormal products
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Previous experience in a food-processing or manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Strong work ethic and employment history.
