Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance Controller to support the Executive Team and manage all operational functions of the accounting and finance department including revenue from multiple companies. This position requires the ability to anticipate needs, think critically, maintain organization, and communicate concisely, and confidently. Experience of successfully managing the operations of the accounting and finance department as a controller is required. The Financial Controller will work with the various department heads to manage all aspects of the financials for multiple companies. Must have excellent communication skills to provide direction to the accounting and finance team and to present financial information to CEO/CFO and the other members of the executive team.

Essential Job Functions:

Budgets: Work with the management to prepare weekly, monthly, and annual expense budgets; revise such budgets and sales forecasts as needed. Provide impact analysis based on budget and forecast revisions.

Financial reporting: Prepare weekly reports, monthly reports and variance analysis verifying data for accuracy and timeliness. Prepare and conduct presentations to the management when requested.

Create and maintain accounting processes and procedures: Ensure GAAP and all internal finance control systems are implemented and monitor that they are continually being followed by the accounting team and other members of the company.

Manage accounting and audit performance: Evaluate and audit A/R, A/P, cash flow statements, and chart of accounts across multiple companies. Maintain hands-on controls including approval of weekly A/P and management of corporate A/R accounts.

Develop and monitor business performance metrics: Apply understanding of performance measurements to evaluate ongoing performance. Collaborate with department heads of sales and marketing to analyze performance data to spot trends and model projections for existing and potential markets and all business segments.

Train and manage accounting staff: Manage work distribution within the accounting department, train and manage their performance.

Manage assets: Make recommendations on purchasing of inventory based on projections and analysis of assets located in multiple and changing locations. Manage Capital Assets and their depreciation schedules.

Maintain and assist with Tax Filings: Coordinate and work with external CPA firm to ensure timely year end close and tax filings. Also manage timely and accurately filing of sales tax and property tax returns and payments. If new filings are required, complete applications as necessary.

Required Skills and Experience:

A minimum of 5 years prior Controller or in similar capacity experience a must.

Must have a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. CPA or a master’s degree preferred.

Must have in depth knowledge of accounting principals and application.

Must be proficient in QuickBooks, Excel and other MS Office software tools.

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with vendors, customers, employees, and executive team with high degree of professionalism.

Exceptional organizational skills, impeccable attention to detail and ability to complete a high volume of tasks and projects when under deadline.

Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.
