GENERAL LABOR - WORK IN HEAT TREAT DEPARTMENT!!

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reads job order for product specifications. Operates and controls heat-treating furnaces. Adjusts furnace controls and observes pyrometer to bring furnace to prescribed temperature. Loads parts into furnace. Removes parts after prescribed time and allows parts to cool in air.  Determines temperature and time of heating cycle. Heat treating- whether the steel has been coiled hot or cold, the process has created stress within the material. To relieve this stress and allow the steel to maintain its characteristic resilience, the spring must be tempered by heat treating it. The spring is heated in an oven, held at the appropriate temperature for a predetermined time, and then allowed to cool slowly.

Need to locate and verify identification of items or materials to be processed, preparing said material or items for loading into furnaces, controlling and monitoring furnaces according to specified heat treat process sheet. Must be able to maintain records of heat treatment on HTPS & recorder charts.

Performs in-process inspections and hardness testing to assure proper conformance of springs.

Responsible for meeting the specifications on the CTI process sheet.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Light to moderate physical effort required.

Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.

Must be able to work in shop that gets up to 120 degrees.

Regularly required to sit or stand, reach and move springs or any other used material.

 PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

Safety Glasses must be worn at all the times.

Steel Toe boots or shoes must be worn all the times.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work performed in a Plant/Manufacturing Shop environment.

WILL BE REQUIRED TO PERFORM OTHER DUTIES AS REQUESTED, DIRECTED OR ASSIGNED BY SUPERVISOR OR MANAGERS/OWNERS.

TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED FOR THIS POSITION!! NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED. 

JOB SITE IS NOT LOCATED ON BUS ROUTE- PERSONAL TRANSPORTATION IS A MUST!!
