Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:   To perform routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of County buildings, grounds, and parking garage.  This responsibility will include all advanced HVAC systems and related equipment, plumbing systems, electrical and lighting systems, building structural systems and various complex equipment and furniture.   The position is a 40-hour-a-week position, with a full benefits package. Pay commensurate with qualifications and experience with a range of $26.15-29.45 per hour.  Please note, applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • 30-hour OSHA certification, or ability to obtain within one year.
  • The ability to lift, carry, or move up to 50 pounds.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associates degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years commercial/industrial experience, or combination of vocational school and two (2) years’ experience and training preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, HVAC, hardware, and structural preferred.
  • Prior supervisory / people management experience preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of experience and education to be considered.
KEY EXPECTED RESULTS:
  1. Maintains building climate by installing, repairing, and servicing heating, ventilating and air conditioning equipment.
  2. Maintains equipment by installing and repairing associated and back up equipment and systems.
  3. Constructs, repairs and installs structures or fixtures by marking, cutting, and assembly lines on materials; shaping materials to measurements, assembling and fastening cut and shaped materials; using carpenter’s hand tools, power tools and woodworking machinery.
  4. Maintains buildings internally and externally by preparing surfaces for application of paint or stain; applying paint or stain by using brushes, rollers, or by other means; cleaning up spilled paint or stain; cleaning and maintaining paint equipment; properly storing or disposing of excess paint or stain.
  5. Answers and responds to calls from County residents on maintenance issues, including electrical problems, lighting repairs, mechanical problems, plumbing, light custodial issues, etc.
  6. Included on a security company call in list to address after hours fire alarms, boiler alarms, and security alarms.
  7. Will assist in all aspects of snow removal at the courthouse complex, ground and parking areas.  Must be available weekends and holidays on an on-call basis.   
  8. Maintains county buildings by performing welding, masonry, roofing, electrical, plumbing, and other work as assigned.
  9. Assures quality maintenance program by completing and/or updating all work orders for completed work
  10. Informs supervisors of problem areas in need of repairs or attention. 
  11. Performs all other aspects of preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance and projects as directed by appropriate supervisors.
  12. Maintains a safe and clean working environment by ensuring all work areas are returned to the highest level of cleanliness, free of all tools, parts and equipment before leaving the job site.
  13. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; establishing personal networks; and participating in professional societies.
  14. Assures safety and security by overseeing subcontractors while working with the county buildings.
  15. Demonstrates an understanding of the county’s safety policies and practices by attending required safety programs; reporting all accidents and suspected safety hazards to the supervisor.
  16. Fulfills job function by participating as an active member in training; participating on county task forces and performing other responsibilities as assigned.
  17. Demonstrates leadership qualities that will lead staff in the absence of the Facility/Maintenance Supervisor.
