Start Date: Ideally June 3, 2024
Job Type: Full-time (40 hours per week), fully remote

Location: Must reside in one of the following states in the US: Colorado, Connecticut, New York, Ohio, or Vermont

About the Opportunity

 

Reos Partners is seeking a skilled Accountant to support our small boutique consulting company with a mission to support systems change.

 

This person will work with our Chief Financial Officer to support accounting, bookkeeping, reporting, document filing, expense and time reporting, coordination with staff and vendors regarding expenses and invoices, and other financial and tax responsibilities. 

 

This position requires an individual who is highly motivated, independent, professional, and enthusiastic to learn and be part of a fast-paced, creative company with a social mission to support systems change. They must be extremely detail-oriented and pay great attention to accuracy and precision.

Reos Partners has offices on three continents. The Accountant would be hired by and working with the North America office which has less than 20 staff working remotely across US and Canada.

 

Key Job Responsibilities

 

  • Assist with preparing and reviewing reports and other financial data for tax filings, monthly/quarterly management reporting, and other, in both the US and Canada.
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly Sales Tax reporting, in both the US and Canada.
  • Assist with annual corporate filings, in both the US and Canada.
  • Assist with cashflow forecasting and management.
  • Manage tax correspondence, for both the US and Canada (Federal, State, and Provincial).
  • Manage PIFs (Project Initiation Forms) and setting up of project in all systems (Xero, Harvest, Expensify, Asana, and other).
  • Initiate new reporting frameworks for better project management
  • Assist with preparing and managing budgets, and variance analysis, for both the overall company budget and individual project budgets.
  • Accounts Receivable; create invoices in Xero, reconciling, and other AR tasks.
  • Accounts Payable; reviewing and entering bills into Xero, reconciling, and other AP tasks.
  • Reconcile bank and company credit card transactions in Xero.
  • Monthly Balance Sheet reconciliation.
  • Review, verify, and approve Expensify reports.
  • Assist with bi-weekly payroll processing, and benefit calculations, as required.
  • Manage and update company software accounts and billing plans.
  • File documents (invoices, bills, payroll reports, and other) in the proper Dropbox folder.
  • Document and update financial processes in Company Blue Book to ensure proper knowledge management.
  • Ad-hoc administrative support as required.

 

 

Qualifications

 

Necessary:

  • CPA/CMA certified. Other formal qualifications such as Bachelors or Masters in Accounting will be considered.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high level of thoroughness, accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Good time management skills and strong independent work ethic
  • Experience evaluating finance tech platforms and ability to identify opportunities for greater efficiency
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, and able to consistently communicate in a professional and cheerful demeanor.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and multi-task, flexibly adjust priorities when necessary, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines in an ever-changing environment.
  • You have a high level of integrity around ethical matters and are able to uphold a strict level of confidentiality and discretion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and cultural awareness with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively across differences in backgrounds and working styles

  • Comfortable with the Mac platform and a wide range of software including Google Suite (Mail, Calendar, Drive), Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to become familiar with firm-specific software.

Preferred:

  • Min. 3 years of accounting experience in a small-to-medium private company.
  • Experience with Xero, Harvest, Expensify, Asana, Dropbox
  • Experience setting up and managing financial projects across multiple systems
  • Experience preparing and reviewing tax returns
  • Experience with payroll and/or benefits management
  • Highly proficient with Excel spreadsheets, including ability to use VLOOKUP and pivot tables
  • French proficiency for reading paperwork from Quebec provincial government
  • Located in the Eastern time zone
  • Cross border US-Canada accounting experience
  • Experience working various US states’ tax rules

 

Working Conditions

 

This job requires the employee to work virtually on a laptop that Reos will provide. Staff meet face-to-face once or twice a year for retreats.
