Artist Services & Production Assistant

COMPANY DESCRIPTION

For 29 years, the International Festival of Arts & Ideas (“Arts & Ideas”) has inspired and delighted audiences with an annual program of over 200 performing arts and humanities events year-round, at least 85% of which are free. 

Focused events in June range from world and nationally renowned speakers sharing the stage with critical local voices for discussions on democracy, to jazz concerts, theatrical performances, dance; takeout mixology classes; bike and walking tours; and live, individual performances by local on-call artists on front lawns and sidewalks throughout the area. 

Year-round programs include special town-hall events, a fellowship program for youth, planning and implementing mini-festivals in New Haven’s culturally rich neighborhoods, participation in the NEA Big Read, and our annual Visionary Leadership Event.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Artist Services & Production Assistant is integral to Arts & Ideas’ 2024 Festival, supporting the implementation and documentation of Artist Services and Production Team projects. This position will work directly with the Director of Artistic Planning and Operations to ensure the Festival needs are fulfilled on time. To ensure the success and effectiveness of teams and projects under their care, the Artist Services & Production Assistant must be an organized and dedicated collaborator.  

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist Artist Services and Production teams during rehearsals and performances, and or pre-production.
- Assist and support Operations team with event execution.
- Assist in artist services and production needs, in coordination with Stage Manager and Company Manager
- Other duties as assigned to support the Artist Services and Production Departments in the delivery of the 2024 Festival. 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience working directly with artists and their support teams.  
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively individually with minimal supervision and as part of a team. 
- Patience and agility when faced with last-minute changes and limited information. 
- Enthusiasm and demonstrated ability to be flexible and collaborative in a transitional, fast-paced environment. 
- Ability and willingness to work a flexible, varying schedule that can include weekends, long hours, late nights, and holidays as necessary. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working in a performing arts setting. 
- Computer skills (including Microsoft Office365 Suite
- Familiarity with performance venues in the New Haven area

Pay Rate: $18/hour
Schedule: Part-Time June 8th- 29th, 2024
