Responsibilities: Join a team of devoted and caring people who make a difference in the lives of young boys with Autism, ADHD, Addiction, Low IQ, Developmental Delays, and other Mental Health Traumas. We are now hiring for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide direct care to those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our DSPs are the heart of our organization who provide caregiving to the boys and young men we support. This may be in a group home, home-like setting.

Essential Responsibilities/Job Duties: Performing personal care tasks, including assistance with basic personal hygiene and grooming, meal preparation, and ambulation, medical monitoring, and health care related tasks. Fostering positive relationships between individuals served and their housemates.

  • Ensuring client safety and maintaining a safe environment.
  • Encouraging self-help activities.
  • Reporting changes in client's condition or family situation to the office.
  • Documenting services provided.
  • Performing home management functions such as light housekeeping, laundry, bed making, and cleaning.
  • Planning meals, shopping for groceries, preparing and serving food/meals, feeding and clean-up.
  • Accompanying client to scheduled appointments and outdoor activities.
  • Transporting clients or running errands for clients.
  • Maintain appropriate supervision levels at all times.
  • Participates in helping incoming residents adjust to group home living by discussing the expectations and behavior deemed appropriate.
  • Facilitate daily living skill development groups, interpersonal skill development, personal care needs such as health and hygiene, meal preparation, and chore completion.
  • Provide positive intervention treatment while ensuring the health and safety of all residents and staff.
  • Accurately monitor, prepare and provide medications for residents to self-administer at scheduled dosage times. (with proper training).
  • Observes resident youth behavior and discusses concerns with the youth in an effort to achieve improvement.
  • Intervenes to decrease escalating situations in an appropriate manner.
  • Investigates infractions of group home rules, writes incident reports, and recommends disciplinary action.
  • Inspects group home premises and personal belongings for contraband, stolen property, weapons, and other non-authorized articles.
  • Maintain compliance with all agency training requirements.

Ideal Candidate

  • Minimum of a high school diploma/GED.
  • STNA, CNA, Respite Care providers, as well as those with experience in the Health Profession dealing with DDS, and Mental Health should strongly consider applying.
  • Social Work and Psychology experience beneficial as well.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Must be able to pass all background checks including an FBI & BCII fingerprint background check.
  • Adheres and signs a Common Ground policy on HIPAA and confidentiality.
  • Able to communicate (verbally and written) with all levels of personnel, internal and external to the company.
  • Able to handle physical aspects of job, including bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and sitting for periods of time.
  • Must maintain state regulatory certifications, as required by state/program requirements.
  • Medication Administration as required by state/program requirements.
