We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to oversee daily payroll operations across multiple companies. Your main duties will include processing employee payments, accounting for deductions and withholdings. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining records and assisting with various accounting tasks, including updating payroll files. Success in this position requires strong mathematical abilities and familiarity with both state and federal payroll and tax regulations.

Responsibilities:
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of paychecks, direct deposits, payroll liability payments, and required quarterly and annual reports in accordance with established local, state, and federal requirements.
- Maintain payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data into the payroll system, as well as retrieving data when necessary.
- Update payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers.
- Prepare reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, or year-end calculations of bonuses and other salary-based compensation.
- Work closely with Human Resources and Accounting on all payroll related issues.
- Provide payroll information by answering questions and requests.
- Process and issue W-2 forms to employees.
- Maintain payroll operations by following policies and procedures, and reporting needed changes.
- Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
- Ensure compliance with governmental laws on payroll accounting and taxes.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a payroll specialist or in a similar role
- Understanding of local and federal rules about payroll
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel
- Multistate payroll experience is a plus
- Ability to work independently in a time-sensitive environment
- Confidentiality and respect for the privacy of employee records
- Accurate data entry skills with great attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to communicate with employees regarding their issues and concerns
- Great organizational skills
- Experience with job costing is a plus
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills
- Knowledge of accounting and financial reporting competencies
- QBO and ADP experience is a plus
